Today we begin our Lenten Journey, using Kathy Escobar’s book, Turning Over Tables: A Lenten Call to Disrupting Power. Join us for our Ash Wednesday service at 7pm.

Feb 28 is a nationwide Economic Boycott to support diversity, equity, and inclusion, endorsed by the BIPOC pastors of Seattle Presbytery. Avoid shopping or eating at major retailers or fast-food, either in person or on-line. Instead support local and POC-owned businesses, using cash if possible.

MAJOR BREAKING: Pope Francis has written a letter to US Bishops saying he’s following “major crisis” of “mass deportations;” takes on Vance saying “The true ordo amoris that must be promoted is that which we discover by meditating constantly on the parable of the “Good Samaritan”

This is the best thing I’ve watched in a long time. We need connections. Lots of them.

“Christianity is at its purest and most beautiful when it is counterintuitive and unwieldy—that is, when it is least amenable to human convenience.”

A good article to read ahead of this Sunday's sermon, if you're up for it.

The PC(USA) Washington Office has issued an Action Alert regarding Project 2025. The implementation of Project 2025 presents dangerous measures that harm the nation’s well-being. Presbyterians must respond with an onslaught of pushback. Learn more: www.votervoice.net/mobile/PCUSA... #PCUSA

Time for some affirmation! All belong!

These measures thankfully passed in Seattle Presbytery but it was close. Read and share with your commissioners.

America is poised to build a concentration camp. We have an obligation to fight it and fight for our immigrant neighbors #pcusa #chicagopresbytery #immigration #deportation #concentrationcamp @pcusa.bsky.social

Seems to us that when empathy is called sin, we have completely lost any theology of grace. Christ's commandments were very clear; love God, love one another as God has loved us. Humans can't do either one without empathy.

Don't know the original source but so very accurate.

Our denominational Advocacy Committee wrote a response to the EO that enshrines discrimination against gender identity and Transgender persons. Thank-you to the committee for its good work.

Thank you Seattle Presbytery for voting to affirm that discrimination against LGBTQ+ people is not how we are going be church.

Thanks to my friend @wwilloww.bsky.social for texting a link to this video to me. When God gives you a pulpit, PREACH as though people's lives depend on it. This bishop did. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI4h...

There will be many posts with quotes because he said so many profound and inspiring things. Today, I’m posting this picture because it reminds me of how cool and wonderful he was. I often wonder if Jesus hasn’t come back a few times and we still keep killing him. #mlkday2025

Investing in relationships over church programs The church’s potential to reach the younger generations depends on our ability to prioritize relational ministry over programmatic ministry, writes Aaron Neff. #Repost

Bluesky doesn't yet connect directly to Constant Contact, so I have to share our weekly email links manually. You can sign up to get the weekly email on our website. conta.cc/40lCu63

Yeah, Lent isn't for a while, but the way time flies, it will be here before we know it. This year, our Lenten Devotional and sermon series will be based from this new book by Kathy Escobar that comes out Jan 14. You can pre-order it for less through the PCUSA Bookstore

May peace and joy be yours forever.

If you’re seeking a chill place to spent Christmas Eve, join us. We have cookies and coffee after.

The piece about our summer series on Christian Nationalism made the top of Teri Ott’s list! It was such an amazing experience to do this project with Haley and Joe. ❤️

Our church is featured in one of these! Our summer project of joining WPPC and WPC in a summer series against Christian Nationalism was a true high point of 2024 for us.

The Bible is often used to keep us tame and compliant. There's a politically subversive thread in the Bible, beginning with creation, the prophets, to the gospel narrative of Jesus, through to John's Revelation. The conversation between Mary and Elizabeth is a case in point.

We are posting each day as we read Erin Wathen’s Calling All Angels Advent devotional. Since Canva doesn’t support posting to Bluesky, I’m cross posting a bit late.

Our community came together to make Thanksgiving dinner for all 20 of our shelter guests. I’m incredibly thankful that I get to pastor such a loving community committed to seeing our church used to house folks who need it.

All our services are on our YouTube channel. We try to get them up by 1pm PST each Sunday. youtube.com/@northminste...

We are using this as our Advent Devotional, which ended up being rather timely. It's only $11 at the PC(USA) store. www.pcusastore.com/Products/066...
