grilled cheese is good

Ah yes, eliminating diversity, disappearing protesters, and punishing anyone who speaks out against the rich and powerful; the hallmarks of democracy.

Tie Fighter with a bumper sticker that reads “I bought this before Palpatine went crazy.”

Uh oh I was alone with my thoughts for too long today and I've made myself sad.

american politics is being in a car pointed toward a cliff having to choose the "slam on the accelerator" party or the "ease on the accelerator" party and if you mention brakes or steering away from the cliff everybody loses their god damn mind at you

the cult of the individual will kill us all

God I love Rachel Zegler

The screenshots of the group chat in The Atlantic article confirmed for me that republican leaders talking like cornballs isn’t just a public speaking phenomenon

logged on bc I was told tangents has an account but I am instead going to tag @ceriley.bsky.social @im-sam-schultz.bsky.social @okidokiboki.bsky.social &&& srry to b cheesy as HECK but the podcast changed my life! one of my biggest comforts for yrs, in ways i cant express lol. thank you for doing it

Why is Trump waging a war on the Department of Education? Because he knows that his biggest enemies are educators and younger generations of learners who are unafraid to speak truth to power. Attacks on education are central to the fascist playbook.

“Those who don’t study history are bound to repeat it” doesn’t mention what to do when you DID study history and you have to watch all the people who didn’t take charge of everything

I need a purple doritos locos taco to take away the pain

i feel like james corden was seconds away from being cast as the voice of paddington and the world would have been so much worse for it

Hi, yes. So restricting press access while siding with an invading country while targeting allies while exploting fears of immigrants/trans people while cutting social and government services to those who need them- this has a name

This whole situation is very cool for me

Trump berates Zelensky, the leader of a democratic country courageously fighting Russian imperialism, while he allies himself with Putin, a dictator who started the bloodiest European war in 80 years. Sorry, President Trump. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism.

The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie is so much better than it needs to be

Medicaid covers nearly half of all children born in the country and around two-thirds of nursing home care for seniors. The Republican Party is voting today on a budget framework with will gut Medicaid to finance more tax cuts for the top 1%. "Party of family values."

While you weren't looking, Trump rolled back Biden's ethics rules prohibiting executive branch employees from accepting major gifts from lobbyists. So much for "drain the swamp."

Dear internet, I have survived another week while the horrors persist. My whimsy reserves are running low and I must soon collect more.

And this, in a way that tells us to resist, to fight with kindness with acceptance with intolerance to the intolerant. And yet... . . . Maybe it's not that I don't know how to write poetry. Maybe I just have too much heart.

The Project for Awesome is a very fun and silly but also important event that raises millions of dollars for global health and other charities voted on by YOU. It has just begun. Please join us at ProjectforAwesome.com/live

It's weirdly difficult to remember that Trump's popular vote margin was /less/ than Hillary's in 2016. Biden got more votes in 2020 than Trump got in 2024 and Trump surrogates all under-performed in congressional races. This is not a mandate, I don't get why it is being portrayed that way.

This has always been the GOP's strategy: 1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves. 2) Explode the deficit. 3) Demand cuts to programs that millions of people rely on. 4) Repeat. Don't let them get away with it.

I like when you dip the bread in the soup and have soupbread

Y’all gotta stop making decisions about what’s right based on what Republicans will say or do. It was right to impeach Trump over January 6th even though we would never get those 10 senators. It was right to remove Trump from the ballot even if the Court rejected it. Try damnit. Try!

Weak men cannot compromise. Weak men cannot build consensus. Weak men think that leadership means force. Weak men build nothing that lasts.

So Republicans are fine with Trump giving Elon access to our private information, BUT called Obama unpresidential for wearing a tan suit…..

another day another health anxiety

Happy Day #3 of Black History Month! In the spirit of sharing and Hillmantok University I've created a self-study guide about The Black Panther Party. This is made for high school, but will work for you too! Learn about free breakfast AND medical clinics. tinyurl.com/bpantherself

This. Is. Nazi. Shit. This is no different than the first Nazi book burnings. It's just happening digitally so there's less smoke and fewer photographs for posterity.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

Calls and text messages have flooded me in the last 72 hours from friends and colleagues in Sierra Leone and elsewhere: Are my meds going to be cut off? Am I going to die? I don't know what to tell them. I don't know what to tell anyone. Hope is my whole jam, but I feel very distant from it.

Medicaid didn't go offline because it was too "woke." School lunch programs weren't put at risk because of immigrants. Funding for cancer research wasn't on the chopping block because of trans people. All of this (and more) was jeopardized because of one person: Donald Trump.

Worth looking through the quotes and replies to this!
