Say it after me: Chat GPT is not a search engine. It does not scan the web for information, it just generates statistically likely sentences. You cannot use it a search engine, or as a substitute for searching. Now. Please never use an LLM for information searches ever again.

LLMs are nothing more than models of the distribution of the word forms in their training data, with weights modified by post-training to produce somewhat different distributions. Unless your use case requires a model of a distribution of word forms in text, indeed, they suck and aren't useful.

Desde 2018, o INSS tem usado IA para processar pedidos de acesso a benefícios p/ tentar diminuir a fila de espera e volume de pedidos. O problema é que essa IA tem rejeitado automaticamente alguns pedidos, especialmente em casos de trabalhadores rurais. via @restofworld.org

I had similar thoughts reading about a potential registry of autistic people in the United States. I've refused to add my disability to my national ID because of this, but my disability is traceable through other means (e.g. university records since I receive institutional support, medical records).
