Movie you've watched more than 6 times, gifs only

Trump pardoned the sentence of arguably the single biggest drug trafficker in American history on his second day in office!

Souleymane Cissé (1940-2025) RIP to an absolute great. You can watch Yeelen (1987) on Kanopy or Amazon. A masterpiece. A great piece by @tambay.bsky.social on Cissé's significance as an artist and impact as an advocate and mentor. akoroko.com/souleymane-c...

We are all of us the 52-hertz whale, singing our weird song whether we are heard or not

I hate mattress tag jokes. It may be my autism, but I've actually read beyond the first five words on the tag, and if you do that, the joke makes no sense.

just trying to spread awareness

Go anti-woke, go broke

Been introducing the 7 year old to Chaplin. She calls him "the funny man." I'm so happy about the way this is going

“Happy Valentine’s Day, honey. Here’s a heart shaped box of meat.”

losing my mind over this

Criterion Channel live stream is just starting Godzilla right now if you want to tune in

Criterion Channel live stream is playing The Young Girls of Rochefort. I know Umbrellas is the more universally loved of Demy's films, but this one is just so delightful

The company I work for had a town hall recently. The CEO stated in no uncertain terms that we are committed to DEI. It made me feel slightly better about my life.

4 year old: EVERYONE HATES ME!!! Me: Do I hate you? 4 year old, defeated: No....

Timeline cleanser. Please make space to feed your delight and creativity in the marvel of the non-digital world. Even if it’s a goofy hobby, your nervous system, your perspective will reset and your body and brain will thank you.

Watched Foreign Correspondent tonight. Is this Hitchcock's funniest movie?

It’s Leslie Nielsen’s birthday & this is still the greatest gag in the history of comedy.

"Artificial Intelligence is facing a crisis: humans are consuming far too many precious resources that AI needs to thrive. Every sip of water you take and every light you turn on could be sustaining the AI systems that uphold your digital conveniences" Brave campaign from @savetheai.bsky.social ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽

This is why I’ve railed against AI for years, as I’ve been seeing my students’ abilities to create, critically think, analyze, weigh evidence, write analytically all wither away in this zombification trend. They’re creating the permanent underclass.

I donated blood today. Do something good today. Someone somewhere will appreciate it, even if they don't know it was you

Trying to figure out what it says about me that I'm not watching the Super Bowl because I gave up on football years ago (concussions) and am instead at an IMAX screening of a Led Zeppelin doc. Both the most and least Boomer things I could be doing.

I read this piece in NYT about weightloss drugs and marriage. I don't quite know how to respond to it. It deals quite a bit with fatphobia and people becoming more aware after they've lost weight. It's a long read, but I think it's a good one. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/02/m...

I prefer the taste of oregano, but I think thyme may be my favorite herb because of a nearly unlimited potential for cheesy puns

It's Saturday morning. You could use a timeline cleanse. Take a few minutes and watch the Long Long Man commercials. If you haven't seen these, trust me that they're amazing. If you have seen them, take some time to enjoy them again! youtu.be/sZsJyCyGBSI?...

My problem was it was difficult to convey when the version of the lyrics playing in my head was the Weird Al polka version

Happy #LastFourFriday! I'm fully in November catch-up mode now, so we'll see how things progress from here.

It may be destroying the Earth and making the internet unusable, but at least it's increasing shareholder value! Oh wait...

06 Feb 2025

February's donation is to BAGLY, the Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth. Given everything happening, this felt like a good place to put some money.

Do we all need to have the conversation again about how public media funding works? How the government gives funding to member stations and member stations give the money to NPR? How Musk wants to destroy news stations in places with very little local news already?

decisions like this are constantly being announced and reversed, resulting in international decision fatigue, energy vampirism, and a lot of businesses unnecessarily scrambling on a daily basis: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

*DOOMSCROLLING CHECKPOINT* Stop. Breathe. Take your mind off the collapse of US Democracy. Here's some baby giant springtails, aren't they cute? They don't understand human politics, they just eat fungi and logs and go to sleep. That must be nice for them. Okay, off you go. #Invertebrate 🧪

Look. I know the world is falling apart, but I just put on Criterion Channel live stream and what even is The Student Nurses?

Exciting news! We’re thrilled to announce that tapir Yuna gave birth to a rare and endangered Malayan tapir calf Sunday night. The newborn, covered in distinctive white spots and stripes resembling a fuzzy walking watermelon, is only the second tapir born in our 120-year history.

Late last night, with about 15 minutes notice to the Union, the NLRB’s HR sent an email adopting the terms of the forked-up resignation scam. HR also provided us a contract that appears to be drafted by AI or LegalZoom. As labor lawyers, we’re happy to go over this in detail. 🧵

Please, science Bluesky. I am begging. I need to know the most ridiculous looking species. Please tell me what the weirdest little weirdos on the planet are. Give me your weirdest animal facts. My feeble grip on sanity is dependent on you.

People have gathered outside USAID HQ for press event with Democratic Congressmen Beyer, Raskin, Connolly and Olzewski and Senator Van Hollen where they're addressing the building's mysterious shutdown today in the midst of the Trump admin dismantling the agency. (Photos shared with me)

Idea for an online handle. I'm not going to use it so it's open. Bronte's Inferno.

I can't dwell on past egrets, I need to focus on the heron now.
