Do you know how lucky you are? Catching a @peeldreammagazine.bsky.social and Friko show hits it home: life is rough, but be kind anyway and savor good things.

The administration got rid of 18F under the cover of night. People who own skyscrapers are afraid of 100 people who make websites. Not because of the latest tech fad, but because we proved the government can be fixed, the government can be made better and the government can work for the people.

I’m heartsick thinking about the destruction of 18F. The lights of my own public service turned on when I learned about them in 2014. I’ve worked among them and learned from them, and the American public lost orders of magnitude more than whatever small amount won’t be expended on work left undone.

📣 PSA: I made a playlist that reflects how I feel about this moment in my decade+ of governmenting. It’s called “Public Service Accompaniment” 🎵 Devotion, resignation, resolve, disappointment, motivation, loss, hope, and the wild swings between these feelings. It has a happy ending! We deserve one

Far be it from me to assess the entire federal workforce’s performance, but what I can say with no doubt is they are subject to the most oversight and accountability of any workforce in the country.

😔 RIP Bill Fay. His music is a regular reminder to me that, despite the pervasive dark, there’s still some light. This one’s for the fascists and their sympathizers: you’re wrong, now and eternally youtu.be/_uZwiZlW-QU

We're finally dismantling the federal government! Sure hope it doesn't serve essential functions that I've taken for granted my whole life

This is wrong. It’s un-American. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

How many Spoon tunes meet this moment?

Lots is bad but this is good, thanks Metro @wmata.com

OPINION: What we are seeing is a tale of two Christianities. It’s why we now have T-shirts that say, “I’m a love your neighbor Christian not a storm the Capitol kind.”

If your boss demands loyalty, give him integrity. But if he demands integrity, then give him loyalty. -John Boyd a.co/6Kkpsse

🫶 I love this with deep feeling, even if capital-letter’d g o v offends my delicate internet sensibilities

Many animated films * are Very Loud * anthropomorphize everything * maintain a shot for no more than 2 seconds Flow isn’t any of that. Almost it persuadeth me to be a cat-lover. youtu.be/ZgZccxuj2RY

Chilly Gonzalez’s “Solo Piano” trilogy has some of my favorite tunes of the last decade+: unfussy, lyrical, brief etudes that retain a gentle threat. Now a surprise drop of the first record, live! What a treat chillygonzales.bandcamp.com/album/solo-p...

It is not right to need to be humming “And mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again” this far into January
