I uploaded one of the original studio demos Stéphane did back in 1993. He re-discovered this tape less than a year ago, and I'm so happy it exists.

this hurts. Stéphane's work in DOS games was some of the best of its era and some of the first soundtrack work that left a lasting impression on me as a kid. i had been excited to see him releasing new (and old) stuff on Bandcamp and YouTube recently, had no idea he'd been battling health issues

no idea if anyone else has dumped this before, so here's the firmware from the 2019 Atari Flashback Portable handheld by AtGames, and also a zip of the internal filesystem contents (runs on some kind of ARM epoxy blob as you might expect) archive.org/details/atar...

new year, new old emulated instruments - these are the Casiotone 8000 and FK-1 bass pedals (1983), part of the "Symphonytron" organ system (of which reportedly only 100 were ever made) both are based on "vowel-consonant synthesis", basically layered wavetable synthesis w/ switchable analog filters

It has been a, uh, difficult week but I have not laughed louder and harder at something in a very long time than at this.

there's a lot to be said about google's insanely annoying AI overviews clogging up search results, but one of the most fun is how you can put your entire search in quotes and the AI will still assume you were actually searching for an entirely different, unrelated thing instead
