A little detail from a doorway in Crail

Crail harbour, possibly the most picturesque of the Fife fishing harbours

This looks like a double ghost sign. It's the former St Cuthbert's in Spottiswoode Road, but there seems to be another sign behind it. The unit is currently under renovation. The sign, alas, is very indistinct, and it's a long time since it was St Cuthbert's.

A cormorant on the Union Canal

*taps mic* 🎙️ Is this thing on?

So here's a question. Is it better to have an AI that self-censors and shows that it is self censoring, or an AI that generates nonsense with no warning?

The fire-blackened Argyle Place Church in Edinburgh, dating from 1877. The building (which cost £5000 in 1877) caught fire during restoration work in 1974 and was so badly damaged that it had to be demolished. The congregation was originally established on a strict temperance basis.

h/t to Office Warch for the link to this fun sketch about what fonts "really think". youtube.com/shorts/T_8AJ...

The town hall in Ahrensburg now counts as a brutalist masterpiece! Amazing how attitudes change over a relatively short space of time. www.ndr.de/geschichte/s...

Happy New Year everyone.

Andy is well worth following, both for the quality of the pictures and the reflections that go with them.

Happy Christmas everyone: St Thomas' Batley looking suitably festive!

Sunrise over the churchyard in Batley at the start of Christmas week.

Also from Selby Abbey, a monument to a sexton

To Selby Abbey today for the first time - a very impressive church, with a somewhat difficult building history, as shown by one of the arches: pushed out of shape by settlement. and movement.

This is a wonderful story with some cautionary elements that should really not surprise anyone. Particularly recommended for librarians!

Gregor has also shared a tour of Torphichen Kirk (POWIS site 4833) We are very grateful to him for these tours. technofreak.co.uk/360/tours/To... Contact: [email protected]
