I dislike both parties. Just like I dislike raspberries and strychnine. One leaves a weird taste in my mouth. The other will kill me.

We are at an appointment at Ben’s ocular oncologist and there is a sign telling people “If you are seeing the doctor you must wear a mask” with a basket pf masks available. I’d say less that half the people in the waiting are actually wearing them.

Today I have to go to the dentist. I’m dreading being in that chair while someone causes me physical pain for an extended period of time. Luckily next Monday I’m getting my next tattoo.

Danger lurking everywhere but we know we've got to dare. Evil men with evil schemes, they can't destroy all our dreams. We must be strong and brave, our home we've got to save.

So, I’ve read 4 of the 5 Bram Stoker nominations for best novel, which means I guess I have a book to read.

Live this book!

Next weekend is the first dance competition of the year and I will be their cheering my stepdaughters on, and making sure my wife doesn’t lose her mind, and not going to: Ike Reilly at Milkboy in Philly. @claymcleod.bsky.social and Owen King at @vortexbooksncomics.bsky.social. 😢

Tuesday is my third year wedding anniversary. It took me almost 50 years to find the love of my life, and it was totally worth the wait. This was the night I asked her to marry me while a ghost sang Creep by Radiohead at Eastern State Penitentiary.

I really wanted to read MR Carey’s Echo of Worlds but I felt unsure of how much I remembered from Infinity Gate, so instead I am rereading Infinity Gate. Honestly, once I was back in the world I remembered a lot but I’m enjoying the reread too much to stop.

Finished American Rapture by @ceejthemoment.bsky.social. What a horrifying, awkward, heartbreaking and utterly brilliant novel. Wonderful performance by narrator Moniqua Plant as well.

My wife: “They have to warn tourist to not touch lava. Natural selection at work!” Also my wife: “There’s an old abandoned castle they say may be responsible for multiple deaths… can we go next week?”

Periodic reminder that not only will we probably not see “no tax on overtime” but Project 2025 proposed that employers be allowed to calculate overtime based on a two week period instead and of one, making it easier for them to avoid actually paying you overtime.

We applied for a remodel for our bathroom to Ben’s waiver. He needs adaptations and our current bath is an original Levittown and you need an engineering degree to use. We are waiting for a company to come out to evaluate but his SC said they are busy because they also do airplane crash forensics.

I just made a joking reference to a 40 year old movie in a reply here and realized like 2/3rds of the people who probably had no clue what I was talking about.

Just started American Rapture by @ceejthemoment.bsky.social and man, is it giving me unpleasant flashbacks to growing up in a fundamentalist church. Amazing book but definitely hitting some of my triggers.

One of our respite residents decided to trash his cabin. Smashed his radio, pushed over the refrigerator and overturned furniture. He found a gallon jug of maple syrup and dumped it all over the place. As frustrating as that can be, man, it smells amazing.

Today is the girl’s Dance Team Dress rehearsal. They also have Addam’s Family rehearsal, and Ballet Workshop. Calea also has her pointe class and a birthday party and tomorrow she auditions for Joffrey.

We are almost at Competition Season for Dance. These past 3 years as a Dance Step-Dad have opened a whole new world for me. Before this I never experienced the panic search for butt glue or listened to two teenaged girls fight about whose toe undies were whose.

I work with people all day, doing various things, yet the most exhausting is one on one training. My introverted side hisses at me whenever I have to do it. I much prefer large group trainings.

So, somehow someone attempted to use my credit card number to spend $100 in ONLYFANS. Luckily my CC denied it. I’m pretty sure it was Elon.

“Just be glad you live in America, just relax and be yourself. Because if you didn’t live here in America, you’d probably live somewhere else.” Timely words from Camper Van Beethoven.

So, I was walking the pups and for some unknown reason there were a bunch of slices of cheese on the sidewalk. Of course, the puppies think this is heaven but me, wary of mystery cheese, pull them past it as fast as possible…

My wife and I have been rewatching Twin Peaks. This is my sunday off and usually we have pancakes and watch Friday the 13th the series on Comet. Well, that just ended and Stargate SG-1 came on and it seems Major Briggs got promoted to General.

Henry Update: Henry completey his MIBG treatment and his isolation period. He is allowed to return to school on days he doesn’t have appointments. He gets a stem cell infusion on Wednesday. His mood has been up and down but all the gifts, books and kind thoughts have been appreciated.

Okay, pals. Time for action this month. We're going to do that by funding classrooms that are specifically seeking out Black history books. These classrooms are those that are in historically underfunded communities. These asks are from teachers whose students benefit directly.

The eye-opening thing is seeing just how much a person can get away with if they are the "right" person. If they have the right title or billions of dollars, the world will bend. And everyone will talk about the horrifying shit you're doing as if it is perfectly reasonable, when it's absolutely NOT

I don’t know much about Chappell Roan outside of the songs my stepdaughter play and the fact that my wife had Pink Pony Club stuck in her head all day yesterday but if she said something that pissed off music moguls she was probably S P O T O N (O).

First picture as a 25 year old. Happy Birthday Benjamin. Benjamin had a great 24th year. He grew increasingly independent and social, no hospitalizations, and medically stable. This years gift (he doesn’t know yet) are tickets to see Smokey Robinson in Atlantic City.

At the doctors. I’ve been able to walk without using a kitchen chair as a makeshift walker, but sleep sucked last night and still get bursts of pain when I do things like move or cough or think about politics.
