Air quality funding at risk: even in California, which has experienced serious air quality problems due to wildfires, using public funds to improve indoor air quality in schools is problematic. The use of $190 million is being questioned. abc7news.com/post/califor...

Around the world, early adopters are measuring CO2 levels to ensure adequate indoor air exchange in their premises. Visitors are informed via screens. It's simple, inexpensive and quick to implement. You can download a PDF version of this slide at letsair.org#early

Our next scientific mediation initiative will focus on quantifying the risk of airborne contamination. This is a complex subject, as the state of knowledge in this field remains fragmentary. You can help us by completing our bibliography at letsair.org#risk

「空気感染症」ファクトシートの日本語版が letsair.org#mediation でご覧いただけます。翻訳してくださった @mas316175829077 に感謝します。 A Japanese version of our "Airborne Diseases" sheet is now available at letsair.org#mediation Thanks to @mas316175829077 for the translation.

Our airborne diseases sheet is now available in English, French, Spanish and German and our 12-page booklet is available on English, French and German at letsair.org#mediation

"I’m sick of being sick". A group of doctors, teachers, academics and principals are urging the New Zealand Government to improve air quality in schools and childcare centres to reduce Covid-19 and other airborne illness. www.thepress.co.nz/nz-news/3606...

New version of our infographic on diseases that can be transmitted through the air we breathe. The list is not exhaustive. Available on our 12-page guide to airborne diseases : letsair.org#mediation

We're looking for orders of magnitude of the proportions, for a given virus, of infected/uninfected and symptomatic/asymptomatic people. We welcome any bibliographical references. This is intended to enrich our introduction to airborne diseases letsair.org#mediation

Unsurprisingly, by analyzing data from 3,206 sensors installed in 125 Boston schools, a research team found that classrooms equipped with central HVAC had the best indoor air exchange. There is still work to be done to reach the recommended 6 air renewals. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Q: "Is the air we breathe safe?" by @kprather.bsky.social and Barsanti, new editorial in @science.org www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... A: "Almost Half of Americans Breathe Unhealthy Air, Report Finds" www.nytimes.com/2025/04/23/c...

Version 0.97 of our scientific mediation guide on airborne diseases is now available at letsair.org#mediation This is a work in progress, with several terminology proposals being made, and your comments are most welcome.

New version 0.96 of our guide to airborne diseases is available at letsair.org#mediation in English and French. The international, multi-disciplinary working group responsible for drafting it has expanded to include new disciplines. We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Indoor Air Quality in French Schools - a conference to be held in Paris on June 20, 2025, with the participation of elected representatives, scientists, civil society organizations, @who.int etc. An important date for facilitating exchanges between numerous stakeholders.

Our 10-page guide to airborne diseases is now available in English and French at letsair.org#mediation Notre guide de 10 pages sur les maladies aéroportées est désormais disponible en anglais et en français sur letsair.org#mediation

Research paper : higher central and peak classroom CO2 concentrations, indicative of ventilation and occupancy, are associated with lower cognitive test scores over the measured range included in analysis ( ~ 440–1630 ppm). www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Work in progress - What do you think of this new infographic on respiratory viruses? Please share your comments with us.

With the help of aerosol scientists and modellers, we continue to work on our 8-page guide available at letsair.org#mediation .

New infographic, work in progress - Airborne infectious particles are well adapted to being inhaled into our lungs. Some of these particles are the same size as those that come out of a ventolin inhaler, for example, which is designed to target the bronchial tubes.

Thanks to numerous contributions and a small multidisciplinary international working group, our introduction to airborne diseases has progressed well, from our point of view. You can find it at: letsair.org#mediation

We're looking for information on “viral dose” and “infectious dose” for airborne viruses: what are the definitions? What units are used? Do we have orders of magnitude for diseases such as COVID-19, influenza, measles? Please feel free to reply, quoting your sources if possible.

Connecticut, USA - Educators and lawmakers advocate for bill to improve air quality in classrooms. The group is advocating for the passage of a bill that would allow school air quality projects, like installing HVAC systems. www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/e...

When it comes to indoor air renewal, the easiest thing to do is set goals, because science has been giving us valid numbers for over a century. The challenge is to ensure that all buildings, new and old, achieve these targets. Have we begun to meet this challenge?

The hidden history of the life we breathe 🔽

What is an aerosol? Our answer, included in our 7-page introduction to airborne diseases available at letsair.org#mediation

New-Brunswick, Canada - About an hour after CBC News reported that only schools with new mechanical ventilation systems would be tested — and not schools without ventilation systems — a spokesperson emailed to say the government had changed its mind. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

We have attempted to summarize all the terminology used to describe airborne diseases. This is part of our 7-page guide available at letsair.org#mediation.

A podcast with Carl Zimmer. His latest book, called Airborne, details a forgotten history of science that never quite managed to get off the ground. Carl helps us understand how we can fail, over and over again, to see a truth right in front of our faces.

We've added @CliveBeggs' hearing for the UK COVID-19 inquiry in our 7-page guide. Pr Beggs described the difficulties of getting airborne transmission recognized as the main mode of contamination for COVID-19: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH2Z... Our guide: letsair.org#mediation

Thanks to a large number of contributions over the last few weeks, our scientific mediation project on airborne diseases is moving forward, and a first 7-page draft is available at letsair.org#mediation . A more comprehensive and ambitious guide should follow.

We have compiled our mediation infographics in a 6-page guide available at letsair.org#mediation It's a work in progress, and we welcome your opinions and suggestions. 1/6
