Remember when Putin held a fair, democratic election? Oh, sorry, that never happened.

Trump is acting as a puppet for Putin, giving up control and thus US sovereignty to a foreign leader. He is a failing president, as he himself would put it.

I have no words fit for print.

Wouk’s Winds of War was among my 20 #bookchallenge books, and I was considering part 2 of Follett’s Century Trilogy. Both are easily accessible introductions to WWII. I chose not to have more than one book by the same author, so Century 2 had to give way to Pillars. #20booknotes #booksky

Looking at the #bookchallenge tag right now, I find a lot of The Handmaid’s Tale, Animal Farm and 1984. I was seriously considering Handmaid’s Tale for my list, but while it’s an important read (especially now), it only made it to place 21. I haven’t read the other two. #booksky #20booksnotes

TBH it’s been kind of a crappy birthday. I should probably let the people who are elected and paid to worry do the worrying about Ukraine and Russia, but it’s hard.

Is this a black hole where I can send all my excess story ideas to get rid of them? Is there a similar place for other kinds of ideas, like “I should take up beekeeping” or “what if I tiled the bathroom room wall with broken collector plates from the 1980’s?”

Det är helg och som vanligt rullar vårt stöd in över gränsen. Ukraina har gång på gång visat att de inte kan knäckas. 👊🏻🇺🇦 För att segra behöver Europa öka stödet substansiellt. På alla plan. Swish: 1236076665 paypal.me/blagulabilen Bg: 5899-3932

Happy birthday to me! 🎂 Today I’m donating to Blågula bilen, a Swedish organisation that buys used trucks and delivers them to Ukraine’s defence forces. At the beginning of the war, an ordinary guy decided he must do something. Now they have delivered nearly 900 trucks. 🇺🇦

With Handmaids Tale people focus on the shock of the mass rapes in the book and the show. But how the regime came to be in power in that book keeps me awake at night because it is playing out in very intricate detail in our real lives right now.

A small milestone reached on my photo account.

I once read a post where someone asked what setting people in Sweden usually had on their heated flooring. Two replies later OP said never mind, I asked ChatGPT and it said 22°C. I googled, there was no info anywhere, so how the heck would ChatGPT know? It’s just guessing.

Oh don’t worry, we don’t.

Vance, you didn’t have actual Nazis occupying and/or marching up and down your country, rounding up and killing millions of people while fuelling and spreading hate about them. Of course most European countries have laws against hate speech!

I started following a few Finnish accounts in order to see the Finnish takes on Putin-Trump-Ukraine. To put it mildly, people aren’t happy. Some people in the comments are even saying Finland needs nukes. Swedish politicians and media are too quiet about Trump in general. Cowards.

Having studied a bit of post-colonialism, global development and human geography, I didn’t find those parts challenging, but for anyone who hasn’t and is even a little bit into fantasy, it’s both a good and important read. The fantasy is in the magic system. The rest is way too real.

I posted this on facebook years back, so some of you may already have seen it. I could have saved it for tomorrow and called it “heart shaped”.

The purple frog avatar was distinct, but not really ”me”. So now I uploaded my favourite photo from last year instead. Still not me, but it’s more my style and it’s my current lock screen background.

While I listed The White Dragon in the 20 books challenge, I haven’t actually read all of the Pern books. So now I’m treating myself to the Harper Hall trilogy. I need something nice and easy after having trudged through Wicked. #booksky

Took me until half way through act 3 to remember to check what my party is standing on/in before using fire or lightning spells. Well, sometimes. I remember sometimes. Then an enemy uses fire in a firework factory, and I don’t feel so bad anymore.

Meanwhile in Sweden, the conservative coalition put forward a suggestion to ban or limit AR-15 and the likes as hunting weapons after a mass shooting that left 11 people dead. No “now is not the time”. It’s “oh shit, this was bad, we have to do something”.

Currently trudging through the last half hour of Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I found it tolerable and even a bit interesting at first, but I have changed my mind hours ago. Too stubborn to quit though, and it’s on audio so no real effort.

I doubt I will get death threats for saying buy Trick Weekes’ books. Search Rogues of the Republic. Anyone opposed to that has poor taste and will be ignored.

I keep describing the cover art in the Alt-texts in my #bookchallenge posts as if more than a handful of people even notice the posts. The title and author are highly relevant, but the cover art? Does it matter? Usually it isn’t even the edition I read, I just grab the first image I find.

My gym refers to online sources for instructions for the equipment and schedules for their classes. They also have very poor cell phone signal inside the building and I don’t trust their guest wifi.
