Great news today that my friend and colleague, Dr. Elisabeth Battinelli, has been named chief of classical hematology for Mass General Brigham! Congratulations Beth! battinellilab.bwh.harvard.edu

Over on LinkedIn, the head of the Executive Secretariat of the NIH -- a central part of NIH leadership 🧪🩺-- resigned with a lettter worth reading www.linkedin.com/posts/nathan...

Vaccinate your children! I have seen children suffer from measles and I would never want another family to watch a child suffer that way.

Don’t believe everything you watch on TikTok! Thank you to @cnn.com for asking me to comment on blood clot risks with this trending travel hack. #VTE #bloodclot #DVT #thrombosis @isth.org @ash.hematology.org

Just can’t get over the hubris of the NYT editorial board support for trans people today after five years of reckless, Ill-informed, reactionary journalism that MADE this an issue in the first place.

Updates: I now hear from colleagues that study sections & NIH councils have finally been cleared to resume? (I welcome confirmation of this from other sources.) May we all recommit to standing up for health.

Some NIH study sections for tomorrow have just been canceled. Who knows which of these grants would have led to the next life-saving invention. Who knows which scientists will throw in the towel bc of funding delays. Who can even begin to measure the impact of these reckless cancellations.😕🩺🧪🛟

I can confirm through a separate source that this is true. This also includes CDC staff who had manuscripts already accepted to journals and otherwise on the verge of publication — those too have to be retracted.

Jesus Christ what an asshole. I have all these emails with VP from when I thought we shared values. Sad, really. A true cautionary tale about audience capture and greed.

It was my privilege to be a member of the ACIP from 2018 to 2022. There is nothing mediocre about the members of the advisory committee. Public health in my country is well served by the work of ACIP and our colleagues at CDC.

Shout out to all the fuckwits who told me, two months ago, that scientists must strive to remain apolitical.

The entire archive of CDC datasets can be found here. HUGE shoutout to data archivists- this work is important 👏🙌🏻 archive.org/details/2025...

If you weren’t clear: a President ordering a Federal health and disease agency to delete pages on its website is a public health crisis.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

This is gold!! ⭐️ ❤️⭐️❤️⭐️

This brought joy.

After 10 years I think I might understand something about the coag cascade. Just needed it dumbed down to this level 😂

Let’s all welcome @beckyzon.bsky.social to #HemeSky by thanking her for finding this video. She sent it to me today because she knows me so well. I ❤️ TXA

If you have been affected by the fires in LA, or are concerned about your ability to keep precious Drosophila strains going during the latest funding crisis, we will host your strains as a backup. Please email me. Please amplify. If you are also able to host fly strains, add your name as well.

“Another unknown is whether NIH researchers will still be allowed to submit papers to peer-reviewed journals.” This is insanity, and could have major impact on entire fields of research worldwide (we all collaborate with one another)

Every year, I tag along as the +1 to my husband’s CME meeting in Hawaii. The mornings are some of my most academically productive time, and this year has been no exception. So far, I’ve already edited 6 book chapters and 2 journal manuscripts…. Next an illustrated review and policy article! 🌺

Have you checked a ferritin today? 🩸

1. Did you know that Girl Scouts has, for a long time, accepted trans girls and nonbinary scouts? Trans kids are under attack. Every year, I make a thread of trans and nonbinary girl scouts you can get your cookies from. Lets get our cookies from them this year in solidarity!

I feel like this @twonks.bsky.social cartoon was inspired by a @jtrebach.bsky.social lecture 🤣 🍄 🍄‍🟫

What’s outlined here is truly disturbing. Now, the important thing is understanding what we can do to support this student and address the issue. Thank you for sharing @drcanuckmd.bsky.social
