If you don't have the curse of chronic migraines and the sensation of eyeballs popping out of their sockets that they cause, I envy you.

Hobby-wise, all I want is to do is perform modular sets in front of a live audience, no matter how small. I spent years doing performances on various musical instruments. It was such an awesome rush. I miss that feeling dearly.

An old patch of mine experimenting with chiptune sounds. Really pleased with how rich the synth tones are. vimeo.com/1058837726

A patch I made several years ago with the goal of turning a modular synthesizer into a string ensemble. #synthsky vimeo.com/1058839251

Reflecting on my journey to here: I was an angry little kid on Quake multiplayer. Friends I made there introduced me to the hacking scene. I started listening to NIN because of the Quake soundtrack. NIN is why I learned audio production. Quake truly shaped my professional and personal life.

Happy place with my shoegaze board.

Quality human.

I released “The Pyre” by Bad Domain. It’s about sifting through the ashes of life’s wreckage to find peace. Stylistically, it’s electronic shoegaze—a wall of sound that ebbs and flows instead of following typical song structures. It’s meant to wash over you. baddomain.bandcamp.com/album/the-pyre

“It had fucking better be metal.”

Tonight I begin work on building a large generative music rig. No idea where this project will end up, but it’s going to be weird. 🤷‍♂️

here's a gift for y'all. Les Documents Interdits (The Forbidden Files), 13 short found footage stories from 1989 that, if not horror, are undeniably Weird. Interesting as one of the earliest examples of the genre and just genuinely superb art, I absolutely love it: mega.nz/folder/g3MQ2...

Some happy news—I’ll finally begin live streaming modular synth experiments later this month. Yeeting bleeps and bloops into the void always brings a smile to my face.

My ice climbing days are probably over.

Holy shit. Separated shoulder with bronchitis is like a perpetual motion machine of pain.

Can I just have robotic arms like Adam Jensen already?

Hi. I’m nullcookies and I’ve separated my shoulder in an accident. Genuinely surprised my clavicle didn’t end up with a compound fracture and my ligaments didn’t snap. Painkillers go burrrrr.

Since we were discussing technique wrt electronic music yesterday, I'd like to mention that I sometimes make videos about stuff you can do with modular synths. Here is a video about using Serge style slope generators to make obnoxious noise. #synthsky youtu.be/lCZo86Xkb60

I’m set to travel more than 14,000 miles over the course of two weeks. Not a vacation. Brutal.

The friendly community we have here is so, so refreshing. It stands in stark contrast to the toxicity over at Elmo’s Twitter.

Diabolical.

Anyone have a thread of infosec Twitter refugees to follow now that we’re hanging out here?

Everyone always asks me how I got into cyber. Nobody ever asks me why I’m *still* in cyber.

Obligatory self-hype: I’m Trace Crutchfield—storyteller, wanderer, and creator of 'This is Now,' a new non-consumerist travel show that’s an exercise in Leaning & Loitering with intent.

“Screwed in Houston” is one of my favorite documentaries. Must watch.

Tomorrow I begin work on a new Bad Domain album. Grief inspires most of my work. This time around I’m mourning my optimistic, idealized, and naive concept of the country I once called home.
