This is a huge thing that's been eating at me. Seeing LLMs conflated with ML in general. Gen AI and LLMs are largely parlor tricks, but I have several friends I graduated with working on ML models to keep us safe by studying atmospheric, geographic and medical data. It's an amazing technology.

apparently my ISP has decided my new modem doesn't support >1Gbps speeds despite it having a 2.5Gbps port. they said "2.5G is like the slow lane and 5G is like the fast lane" so i presume they're thinking of 2.4Ghz vs 5Ghz on a router but this is a modem and we're talking about downlink i hate tech
