#QueerPrompts, 2/23: Mel: Black (like her soul!) and silver (though her motif color is violet). Quinn: Orange Delphine: Lavender purple Cecelia: Red and blue Elias: Cerulean Blue Nate: Green Riley: Light Blue Dom: Crimson Bonus: Z loves purple and V loves dark blue and yellow.

A movie I've seen more than six times? There are only a handful of movies that qualify, despite my siblings trying to make it otherwise.

#PretendPanel - 2/22 If I'm any of them, I'm Mel. Or rather, Mel is kind of an idealized version of me at 17, already knowing she's queer and able to express herself how she wants. Also with magic.

youtu.be/haIJrpnkq94 We're flying high after victory in our last case, and after a quiet six months the gang visit a circuis to see an equally high flying performance, but a few days later tragedy strikes as the most fabulous fabuloso star of the show is arrested just a few days later...

Have compassion, have hope, and fight like hell to hold onto both even when the world makes that really freaking hard. #AskAnAuthor

#QueerWriters - Not above and beyond, but I did catch-up on WIPSnips and started some scenes I'm very excited about. And I did get some good research in~

Today in Sea of Dead Men, the B Team executed a near perfect job stealing a bunch of guns from House Pavoni. Ri had to endure an awkward family dinner, Lia was intimidating as hell, and Tilli could've totally took on those bravos who cornered her.

#WIPSnips, 2/21: "Whim".

#AskAnAuthor: Disgust or confusion do not give you a moral high ground, and not understanding something doesn't automatically make it evil. It just means you don't understand that perspective, and need to educate yourself before you can make a judgement. Fiction can help with that.

hey it's 2/22. Shout out to the 2 crew.

#WIPSnips - 2/20: Plaque

Just finished The Dead Cat Tail Assassins by P. Djèli Clark, and Victor LaValle did not lie. A fun, fantastic novella that mixes genre elements in such a way that I did not see coming, and I always love it when Magic Law and binding contracts cause chaos. 5/5 stars from me. #BookSky #2025Reads

#AskAnAuthor 2/21 I don't have a one! I have tried/AM trying to instill one in myself but whenever I feel like i finally have one down, I trip over something and end up spilling my routine everywhere and needing to start from ground 0. Best I have right now is cramming some writing in before bed.

#QueerPrompts, 2/22: I love all my side characters??? But Delphine comes to mind immediately. She's an idealistic soft femme who doesn't let the world's awfulness bring her down... and she can kick major ass when she wants to. Also Dom for being a cocky, flirty, sarcastic she/they.

#FantasyIndiesFebruary & #QueerPrompts February 21: Free Friday 💚💛 Thank you to my friend Goldie for arranging, taking, and sending me these photos of my debut YA MM contemporary fantasy romcom 🌿Gravity's Fire🔥 about two boys discovering the literal magic of first love. linktr.ee/GravitysFire

#QueerPrompts - 2/21 If V matches the game version of themselves, they'll be aromantic. Not sure about the Study Group though. At least one is in the asexual sphere but I'm not sure about all their levels of romanticism.

Seconded. Also, if you have a non-English name that has been repeatedly mispronounced or replaced by a white nickname, please tell me what it is. I will learn to pronounce it correctly.

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.

#QueerPrompts - 2/20: Most of my characters are teenagers, so self-love is something they're struggling with. But my MC and her friends discover things they're good at and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities over the course of the book.

Hello fellow #WeeknightWriters! I'm writing a superhero novel about the children of supervillains. And I'm mostly in a research stage but I am flitting from scene to scene a little. I'm satisfied with my output this week. 😅

Fictional villains: my motivation involves a complex backstory around lost love and a deep yearning to be understood Real life villains: being cruel makes me feel like a big strong man

#AskAnAuthor - 2/20 I have a black belt in karate! I would love to get back into martial arts too, maybe aikido or judo, but I really, really can't afford classes right now.

Same for those who look abroad for Trump’s coup precedents when Wilmington NC in 1898 is right there

If you’re opposed to fascism, please make sure you’re working on internalized ableism. The link between fascism, eugenics and ableism is well documented. Fight for disability rights. Make resistance efforts accessible. Wear a mask & stay home when sick. Don’t leave us behind.

#QueerPrompts - 2/19

#AskAnAuthor - 2/19 I sometimes write tipsy, but I've never written high and I can't imagine I would find it helpful, just from the way it feels. Tipsiness can help me feel less self conscious? But I don't think it helps any further than that.

happy presidents day

Feeling... rough. Lately.

#WIPSnips 2/17 - Candy

I've started watching this young fisherman scrape the barnacles off of lobsters and it's more satisfying than any cyst pop video and way less gross.

#AskAnAuthor - 2/18: I've picked up a couple books on carcerial justice and group therapy for this book, but I haven't quite started them yet!

#QueerPrompts: 2/18 Mel used to feel safe with her parents and her two best friends, but that quickly shifts at the start of the novel. By midnovel, she starts to feel safe with Quinn, and slowly with the rest of the Support Group.

I keep saying this but... if you live in a big city and want to fight fascism, questioning what your mayor and cops are doing to unhoused people is an *excellent* start. Criminalizing people who have nothing is how nice urban liberals do fascism.

Don't forget the stone cold truth from John Constantine. (From Hellblazer: Rise and Fall, written by Tom Taylor, art by Darick Robertson.)

#QueerWriters: Monday, 2/17 My goal this week is to continue my research, get to a couple of my flash fiction prompts, and keep up with my WIPSnips. Also maybe do a comprehensive outline.

Hey your gyre's ever-widening! Stupid falcon's probably not even listening to me.
