I visited Riga this week. Every time I visit a capital of one of the countries that were liberated in 1990-1991, I am amazed by the progress achieved since then. Back then they were drab and grey. Today they are beautiful and vibrant: www.greatpix.eu/Travel/Riga-...

I continue to be amazed by the progress made in the former Communist country since liberation in 1990. Take Lithuania: 30 years ago its GDP per capita was 30% of the OECD average. Now it is at 88%. www.oecd.org/en/about/new...

Today is the 3rd anniversary of the fascist invasion of Ukraine. Do not give up. Do not forget. Pox on Russia!

It's been a long time since I read a book that made such an impression on me: "The Forbidden Notebook" by Alba de Céspedes. A classic of 20th century literature as far as I'm concerned. Available on Amazon and elsewhere.

On this Holocaust Memorial Day, I honour the family members from Lublin whom I never met. They would have been my grandparents, uncles, aunts. Here are a few images from their world: www.greatpix.eu/Film/A-world...

Since January 2001, I have been posting a weekly photo blog called Picture-A-Week (PAW). I just posted the blog for the first week of 2025, beginning my 25th year of PAWs: www.fotocycle.dk/paws/?page_i...

Yesterday was a dark day, and this morning's news is every bit as bad as I feared, if not even worse.
