This is my perspective when I hear transphobes mention stuff like "You couldn't live with yourself, why do you want me to". It's wrong, the cause of my distress wasn't within me, it was in knowing transitioning meant conflict with certain people I cared for.

In the rare case that a parent is supportive of their trans child, it is to be labeled as abuse, while attempted conversion therapy and denial of bodily autonomy to trans children is to be a normalized form of torture.

Colombia capitulated and had their funding frozen. Harvard resisted and got their funding frozen. If the punishment for resisting is the same as the "reward" for bowing down, that makes the choice pretty simple. Columbia did irreversible damage to their reputation, and the reward was no funding.
