Today, in beautiful Jackson Heights, my office unveiled a new report to strengthen and expand the #OpenStreets program with concrete steps to make it a vibrant fixture of our City’s urban landscape. comptroller.nyc.gov/reports/stre...

The data is clear: This is a year to allow tenants to catch up.

In the midst of an affordability crisis, we must lead by fighting for those most severely impacted—and that starts with freezing the rent.

After carefully reviewing the research reports compiled by the Rent Guidelines Board for 2025, I believe that a rent freeze is appropriate for the upcoming year. My full testimony: comptroller.nyc.gov/newsroom/com...

Reaching #NetZero by 2040 in our investment portfolios takes a comprehensive approach that includes divesting from fossil fuel reserve owners, scaling up our climate solutions investments, and engaging with the companies in our investment portfolios, including the big North American banks.

With profits plummeting over 70% in the last quarter, Tesla needs to divorce itself from Elon Musk.
That’s why today I am renewing my call to Mayor Adams to pursue securities litigation on behalf of New York City’s public pension systems.
My full statement here: comptroller.nyc.gov/newsroom/sta...

We won’t bow to pressure to move away from our climate commitments. Today we're demanding the retirement systems’ managers strengthen their #NetZero plans consistent with their fiduciary duty—or we will find new managers who will. Watch the full press conference👇 www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMQt...

As we mark #EarthDay, we are reminded of the stark reality we face: last year was the hottest on record while the Trump administration is systematically dismantling climate policies in DC.   But New York can lead by example.   It's time we pass the #NYHEATact in THIS legislative session.

Want the climate & economic justice map the Trump administration removed from federal websites?   We got you covered.   Ahead of #EarthDay we've updated our NYC Climate Dashboard + added the federal map + made accessibility improvements to meet ADA standards 👇 comptroller.nyc.gov/services/for...

NEW: A recent audit from my office has found that the highest fines for DOB code violations were disproportionately concentrated in Black and Hispanic neighborhoods. comptroller.nyc.gov/newsroom/pre...

Wishing New York City a healthy and peaceful #Easter Sunday.

This week the @nyccomptroller.bsky.social’s office took part in our annual Brooklyn Bridge walk. This is always a fun, team-building exercise that helps promote health and wellness. #getyourstepsin

Thank you to Deb Benders, president of the residents council at the Cooper Park Houses, for showing me their safety program and new camera system.   Public safety is a community effort and partnerships with NYCHA are integral for the safety & well-being of their 500k+ residents.

The difference between a “mild” and “severe” recession is hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions in lost tax revenue. That’s why it’s imperative the City safeguard against a Donald Trump economy and set aside up to $2 billion in reserves. gothamist.com/news/nyc-cou...

The Adams administration has done nothing to reckon with the choppy financial waters caused by Donald Trump.   Given the economic uncertainty, I urge the Mayor to allocate $2B to a Rainy-Day fund, including $1B to prepare NYC for a Trump-induced crisis. www.thecity.nyc/2025/04/16/a...

My office released a report on NYC bus service, appropriately titled Behind Schedule. Buses are slow, late, and bunched, with on-time performance getting worse - but it doesn’t have to be that way.

The Trump administration thinks they're above the law pulling legal immigrants—and even citizens—into their xenophobic dragnet.   Judge Talwani's ruling is a welcome reprieve for anybody who believes in legal immigration and the right to due process. www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-c...

NYCHA says they didn't know. Residents did.   In our first resident-led audit, we found that NYCHA is sorely lacking oversight and monitoring of contractors who perform repairs in its buildings - including $135.6 million in small purchases. comptroller.nyc.gov/newsroom/nyc...

It's clear that the Trump administration has injected an unprecedented level of chaos & uncertainty into the economy. This month's spotlight highlights the need for NYC to build its reserves as Trump's economic storm pulls us toward a recession. comptroller.nyc.gov/reports/taki...

The Trump administration is now cancelling FEMA’s BRIC program, which provides funding for resiliency improvements before disasters hit AND saves the City $13 for every $1 spent rebuilding after.   Wasting money to benefit his political agenda is the norm for Donald Trump, but not for NYC.

Mayor Adams should be leading the charge against Donald Trump’s fascist agenda, not cowering and cutting deals to benefit himself. Thank you to the @council.nyc.gov for your leadership and moral clarity in this moment.

Last night we convened for the first time with the new @NYCHA Resident Audit Committee. The first committee informed our decision to audit repair vendor oversight and eviction rates at PACT developments. What will the new Resident Audit Committee advise us to audit?

Compared to the last decade, NYC buses are now slower in every borough except Manhattan. New York is a world class city and its 1.1 million bus riders deserve world class rapid transit.

NYC schools are out of compliance with Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act regulations. Report by @nbcnewyork.com

Chag Pesach Sameach!   Hoping everyone gathering around the Seder table this #Passover is able to unite with family and friends in health and safety.   May this season of renewal bring peace, strength, and liberation to all.

The price of center-based care for infants and toddlers in NYC has increased 43% since 2019 and family day care a whopping 79%! @governor.ny.gov has rightly expanded eligibility for subsidized care — now it’s imperative our State leaders include the $$$ in the budget to make it a reality.

As NYC's 1.1 million riders know, our buses are slow. And it's getting worse. While the City Council has created actionable plans to speed them up, Mayor Adams & the DOT are abandoning riders at the wheel. Read my office's recommendations to improve service ⬇️ comptroller.nyc.gov/reports/behi...

The Adams administration's Executive Order allowing ICE to open an office on Rikers Island completes the quid pro quo with Donald Trump and his betrayal of New York City.

3 of the 5 New York City pension funds have surpassed their goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through their investments! Proving once again that reducing climate risk can be achieved without harming investment returns. www.pionline.com/esg/3-new-yo...

LIVE: New @nyccomptroller.bsky.social audit finds @nycschools.bsky.social failed to inspect 82% of schools containing asbestos. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss-q...

DonaldTrump and Co-President Elon Musk couldn't care less about the well-being of our seniors & people with disabilities who rely on #SocialSecurity.   That's why I'm calling on City Hall & City agencies to step up and protect New Yorkers before they're denied the benefits they rightly deserve.

Over $4 million.   That's how much 1,500+ workers are owed from prevailing wage settlements with companies that worked on City-funded projects across the five boroughs.   See if you're one of the workers owed money 👇 comptroller.nyc.gov/unclaimedwages

The Trump Administration’s latest attacks on #SocialSecurity risk pushing many of NYC's 1.3 million recipients into poverty.    New York City must use all its tools to provide clear, real-time information that helps people keep their benefits.

LIVE: @nyccomptroller.bsky.social Lander is joined by older adults & disability advocates to call on Mayor Adams to safeguard New Yorkers’ Social Security benefits against Trump cuts 👇 www.youtube.com/live/FGsmgNu...

The proposal to rezone Hudson Yards would undermine one of New York’s greatest urban transformation stories.   Even worse, it would dramatically decrease the amount of housing that was agreed upon there amidst a grave housing affordability crisis. www.nydailynews.com/2025/04/03/l...

Tesla has materially misrepresented @ElonMusk’s role as CEO to the @SECGov and to the public, while he is actively working against the interests of @Tesla shareholders at DOGE.   That’s not just bad management. It’s illegal.   From last night’s @cbsnewyork report:

Today we're announcing that three of New York City pension funds are AHEAD OF SCHEDULE in reaching #netzero in emissions by 2040.   As Donald Trump and MAGA politicians are waging a war of political distraction at the behest of their fossil fuel donors, NYC is standing up!

My duty as Comptroller - and all the other fiduciaries of the NYC pension funds - is to protect the interests of NYC retirees. That's why today I called on the Law Department to pursue securities litigation at Tesla.

While Donald Trump's billionaire buddy Elon Musk is busy overseeing "government efficiency", Tesla stock has plummeted 50% from its peak.     That’s why I’m calling on the Law Department to file securities litigation before Elon drives Tesla off a financial cliff.
