"Employers will use this opportunity to encourage people to get into individual agreements away from union protection. The new arrangements are a definite effort by the minister to undermine people’s basic rights and undermine unions." Richard Wagstaff newsroom.co.nz/2025/04/10/v...

Red Tape and Orange Cones. Despite the fact that workers are twice as likely to die in workplace accidents in Aotearoa NZ than in Australia, Brooke van Velden is reducing Health & Safety measures. My Stuff #cartoon today #NZpol #WorkplaceSafety #Unions

Employers will no longer need to provide info about unions or ensure that workers are employed on the same terms with any collective agreement. Make no mistake, this is a deliberate attempt to undermine unions and prevent workers from securing good pay and conditions.

When we fight back, we win. #FightBackTogether #MarangaAke

If your employer deliberately underpays you, if they dock your pay for things they're not allowed to, if they require you come in early and stay late without compensation - these are all examples of wage theft. And now, thanks to the new law, they are all criminal acts.

The Crimes (Theft by Employer) Amendment Bill has PASSED in a huge win for working people. The law now recognises that theft is theft. We thank Camilla Belich and Ibrahim Omer for their leadership on this issue.

"The Living Wage basically allows me to survive. Before the Living Wage came in I was really struggling to afford groceries, especially considering how high my rent was, and the Living Wage has allowed me to thrive in what would be seen as a very basic sense." Liam Shaw.

Nicola Willis has proposed that the Living Wage no longer needs to be paid in cleaning, catering, and security services that are procured by government. Thousands of low-paid workers now face the potential pay cuts. We strongly condemn these changes.

We send our thanks to Camilla Belich who has been a champion for working people in her role as Labour spokesperson for Workplace Relations & Safety. We also congratulate Jan Tinetti and look forward to working with her in the fight for workers’ rights.

We stand firmly against the Treaty Principles Bill, and any attempt by this Government to attack the rights of Tangata Whenua. Workers benefit greatly from the collective rights that Te Tiriti enshrines - now it's time that we defend them.

The Prime Minister continues to demonstrate how out of touch he is with working people by failing to recognise that working people in Aotearoa are now experiencing extraordinary economic insecurity, from job losses and stagnating wages to housing insecurity and rising costs.

Today we lodged our submission in opposition to Treaty Principles Bill, which is direct attack on Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori rights. Government must abandon this Bill and make no further attempts to distort the genuine principles of Te Tiriti.

Another day, another attack on workers. Today the Govt kicked the can on Holiday Act reform even further down the road, meaning an even longer delay for workers trying to get their basic rights to leave recognised. union.org.nz/six-years-of...

It has been a year since Govt cancelled the iReX project and there still no plan to replace the ferries. Ships were set to arrive in 2026. That's now looking like 2029. The original project should never have been cancelled.

We are calling on political parties to vote down Brooke van Velden’s Pay Deductions for Partial Strikes Bill, as it will escalate industrial disputes and may even lead to workers losing pay for simply doing the job they were employed to do.

We welcome the Green Party's plan to reduce emissions and create jobs through workforce planning, ETS reform and a Ministry of Green Works. This is the kind of vision that is needed to deliver a Just Transition and material change for working people. www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...

We condemn disability support provider Te Roopu Taurima for implementing an illegal lock out. Lockouts are an extreme and irresponsible course of action and treating low-paid disability workers like this just a few weeks before Christmas is shameful.
