BREAKING: In a reversal, all NOAA Research sites will now remain online with "no interruption in service," according to the agency. NOAA had previously moved to cancel the research division's cloud services contract. Story for @bloomberg.com (free link): www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Our partners at NOAA provide reliable, credible information to everyone from subject-matter experts to those with little technical background. Loss of this information likely will reduce public safety and access to knowledge that has been acquired with public funds.

Thanks to KEZI for the opportunity to discuss how staff reductions at the National Weather Service may affect emergency preparedness and response in Oregon and beyond. @larryoneill.bsky.social explains how and why. www.kezi.com/news/local-c...

At least 880 people have lost their jobs at NOAA nationwide, according to U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Washington, with some of those job losses certainly hitting Oregon.

The National Weather Service and other branches of NOAA are vital for ensuring public safety and sustained livelihoods and quality of life. Elected officials are not always aware of the practical consequences of changing the capacity of these agencies. wapo.st/4hX87ZQ

The scientific consensus that climate change poses risks to human health at global, national, and local levels is clear, evidence-based, and highly certain. wapo.st/43bee8s
