Hehe I stole some servo motors from a project I made years ago to use in the next section of this model. S-M-R-T

Finished the bake of the "wrist" of this grippy arm. #wip #descent

I'm sure subD has its uses still, but I am *really* enjoying this bevel shader workflow. I'm having more fun creating assets than I have had in a loooong time.

I completely ditched all of the subD progress I made on this asset in favor of the TB5 bevel shader, then baked and added base mats. I made more progress on this mesh in 2 hours than I have in 2 weeks. #wip #descent

This is the stuff I was modeling at work this week with the TB5 bevel shader. The kind of things I'd normally subdiv model, but it's just very simple shapes I've intersected with each other. Not even booleaned. Just floating there. But even with wide bevels it looks decent when baked #toolbag5

Upgraded my headphone amp from Schiit Midgard to the Jotunheim 2. I wasn't prepared for how much better it sounds 😯 Relistening to my entire spotify favorites playlist because the difference is night and day. 11/11 can recommend

As much as I like subdiv, I am REALLY enjoying the use of the bevel shader baking in Toolbag 5 for the models at work. This might be my new preferred workflow. 👀 If for no other reason than to eliminate the wavy normals on low poly cylinder bakes. Poof, gone. 🥳

Kids these days will never know both the frustration of the dialup sounds that looped forever while connecting and the subsequent joy when you were finally able to log on to the internet. Only to be disconnected minutes later when a sibling decided they needed to use the phone without asking.

In my journey to find a Linux distro I'm comfortable with, I think I finally settled on Zorin. I think I'll still need to dual boot windows, but Zorin seems to have remarkably low user friction compared to Ubuntu or Mint.

I'm doing data entry QA work over my weekend just to pull in some extra cash. It might be kind of boring, but it's also pretty relaxing just doing something routinely over and over while listening to music. Maybe that's my autism speaking 😂 Big fan of routine work that I can iterate on efficiently.

Altered the layout of the light panels to brighten up the scene a bit more #wip #descent

Made all of the missile paint stripes unique. Pretty much everything in the scene is broken down into modular pieces now too. I was getting intimidated while working on the ship as a monolithic asset, but it's way easier to make progress when it's all chunked up. #wip #descent

I set out to create a physically accurate rotating light for no other reason than to see if I could. It uses a set of curved opposing mirrors and a "bulb" (emissive sphere) in front of both and set to rotate 😆 #wip #descent

Thinking those light panels could be like an observation deck or something #wip #descent

Adding smaller meshes here and there to give a better sense of scale and it's fun seeing things from the cockpit perspective. #wip #descent

The engine is finally done! 😀 You can see more shots and a turntable on my artstation: www.artstation.com/artwork/K3Jgor

I learned a lot about myself over the past year while working at my previous job. Though it ended up not working out in the long run, it was still a great learning experience. I'm going back to VR/simulation work, but I have a slew of new techniques in tow that will undoubtedly be very useful now!
