🚨 PhD opportunity alert! 🚨 Passionate about neuroscience? Want to work with cutting-edge tech like ultra-high field MRI and intracranial EEG to study the human brain? Join us and push the boundaries of neuroscience 🧠✨ 📍 @macsbio.bsky.social 📆 2 March 🔗 tinyurl.com/bfjwpmt9 #neurojobs #PhD

The layer-fMRI field has changed since the pandemic: -> studies are larger -> majority uses 3D readouts -> a bit more sharing -> majority uses non-BOLD contrasts

Never gets old

Dr. Seiji Ogawa discovered and coined "Blood Oxygenation Level Dependent" BOLD contrast - used in almost all fMRI today. It was my great honor to interview him over two days on the very beginnings of fMRI, and so much more. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gBK...

This was a fun discussion! talking about the unique value of layer-fMRI and how I got there. Thanks Ben for having me at the BJKS Podcast.

I had a great discussion with Vesa Kiviniemi, from Oulu University. He described his latest work using high speed whole brain acquisition (MREG) to characterize brain pulsations - and perhaps hints of the glymphatic system. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/n...

Rather than a typical neurosalience Podcast, we decided to post a talk I gave at OHBM on my perspective on podcasting and Neurosalience - and how I prepare for each. creators.spotify.com/pod/show/ohb...

A new Neurosalience episode is out! The idea of the brain, Francis Crick, and consciousness with @fmri-today.bsky.social and Matthew Cobb (@matthewcobb.bsky.social) youtu.be/TE-vsX0wzjM

Behold the butterfly k-space trajectory: a maddening yet elegant dance across Fourier realms, conjuring cerebral truths from the void. Gaze upon the eldritch brain patterns it summons… if you dare.

Experiments in k-space. I call this one "explosion-02".

🚨 We’re hiring! 🚨 We're looking for a postdoc for our ERC Synergy project Unfold (unfold-lab.github.io). Join our lab at @institutpasteur to model brain morphogenesis! (1/10)

Just a heads-up: I officially invented 'Brain Sudoku' today. You're welcome. #MRI #brainart

I am always a bit suspicious of people giving advice on social media (how to write a paper, give an interview,…). If it works for them, fine. It may not work for you. My only advice is: don’t listen to advice. Including this one, of course.

Mark you calendar for the exciting upcoming ISMRM workshop on UHF & fMRI. March 31st-April 2nd 2025, in Annapolis, MD, USA. Website (being populated): www.ismrm.org/workshops/20... Preliminary program in figure.

Mistakes were made... Accidental brain art 🎨🧠 #brainart @layerfmri.bsky.social

I see you and raise you this bubble-sorted layers 🍰

Fascinating: mesoscopic vessels remain consistently visible across different T2*-weighted acquisitions! Here’s the same living human brain imaged 6 months apart using different parameters. Which image is your favorite?

While fine-tuning 3D EPI parameters, we captured an impressively clear view of the human LGN! If you look closely, you can almost make out faint layers—wish they were more distinct though 🫤

3D EPI has come so far! Here’s a whole-brain, 0.35 mm isotropic image we recently acquired, in under 7 minutes!!! So many potential applications (and analysis challenges) ahead... 🤯

In this video, I am showing how to quickly register anatomical images onto partial coverage fMRI data using ITKSNAP: youtu.be/2txoJiLsNbU

We have starting developing a *programming first* self-study pipeline to understand the fMRI signal in OHBM 2024 Brainhack. Might be useful for those who learn by interacting with the equations. A summary of the project can be found at: youtu.be/jQyK0ZV1LzY

Please mark your calendars for the 7th ‘layer-fMRI’ virtual dinner on Aug. 22nd. We will be discussing possible translational and clinical applications of layer fMRI. With: Esther Kuehn, Joost Haarsma, and Jun Hua More info: layerfmri.com/7thdinner/
