This is such a fun read. A collection of offbeat, creepy short stories centered around old shopping malls. Highly recommend for anyone who grew up hanging around malls or who has an interest in those times. #booksky

Finally getting around to reading The Picture of Dorian Gray. Been on my to-read list since ~2000. I hope you feel a little better about how long it's taking you to get through your own pile of books.

#NewJersey with positive #H5N1 in wastewater in #Newark. No active outbreaks in birds or cattle #birdflu

In Feb 2020 I told my hubs we needed to prepare & buy food. It’s time to start thinking about a situation like that again. It's not COVID this time, it's H5N1. If this breaks out, it will make COVID look like a trip to Disneyland. I believe it's only a matter of time before H5N1 finds its legs.

A second pet food brand got contaminated with bird flu and is being recalled after infecting multiple cats that ate it. N95 masks are starting to go out of stock at my local Walmart. I suspect those might be related.

This is a perfect analogy for public health. When people work hard behind the scenes to prevent disasters, it can look like "nothing happened." But that's the point—public health is working when crises are averted before they begin.

Going to venture that we are nearing the end of “but it poses no meaningful risk to humans” part, and will be soon moving into the “oops” stage of the H5N1 timeline.

An indoor cat died after eating commercially available cat food contaminated with bird flu. That feels very ominous. It's getting harder to avoid infection.

The condition that prompts the diagnosis exists prior to the diagnosis. This is true of every single diagnosis; medical and psychiatric. I don't know what else to tell you.

“Is it okay for a social media platform to be an echo chamber” back in the day we had websites and websites were generally focused on a single topic and if you were into that topic you would visit that website and if you weren’t into that topic you just didn’t go on that website and it was fine

Sorry to say we're closed today (Tuesday) 😔 Someone has bricked our window, robbed the cash drawer and, bizarrely, the Bluetooth speaker 🎶 All the books are safe! Turns out robbers dont read. If you wanna help out this struggling queer bookshop our website is still open Merry bloody Christmas 😥

When the US Consumer Product Safety Commission noticed a lack of stock photos of Americans with disabilities using common home safety products, they created a collection for us all to use. Access it for free petapixel.com/2023/05/23/u... #Inclusion #Allyship #RepresentationMatters

This was such a fun, short read at just 62 pages. A university researcher and a vampire are forced into a marriage through inheritence laws, and they have to work to uncover who's really behind it all. Well worth the $3 and couple hours I spent on it. #booksky
