Enjoyed Rachel Botsman's How To Trust And Be Trusted, particularly the chapter on the relationship between transparency and trust (and how one doesn't lead to the other).

The Eric Watts award recognises individual healthcare workers and teams who have made an extraordinary contribution to improving the patient experience and placed patients’ needs, views and involvement at the heart of improvement. Open to staff and patients/carers to make an application.

Enjoyed @pollyneate.bsky.social and Roger Martin's discussion with Will Nicholson on co-conveying A Better Way network.

Finished the second set of episodes of @joannahs.bsky.social's excellent You Do Not Have To Say Anything on the commute today. Thoroughly recommended if you want a compassionate guide to how the criminal justice system works (or doesn't).

Is it in HSJ yet?

This isn't a great look for either the Throckmorton family or the @nationaltrust.bsky.social. For starters, they'll have to change their slogan to add a disclaimer in it: "For Everyone. Forever*." * Except when we've already got you to fund the repair bill.

Rachel Botsman has a great opening story at the start of her new audio book on trust. That was me chuckling in the vegetable aisle at Tesco this morning, listening to it whilst I did the weekly shop.

I see the reoccurring "Eurostar to more destinations" story has appeared again. No details of how they plan to transform St Pancras, and no explanation as to why they can increase capacity there but can't open Stratford/Ebbsfleet which would seem a far simpler solution.

Another trip to Leeds, this time to Wellington Place (if you are there today do say hello!). Journey in the company of Maff Potts and his new book Friends and Purpose, and @joannahs.bsky.social's brilliant BBC Sounds series on the criminal justice system.

Refreshed Experience of Care Improvement Framework now live, reflecting new priorities. Includes focus on learning from people who do not use services as expected, building on Trusts' efforts to understand and report actual vs expected access. www.england.nhs.uk/publication/...

A brilliant role for an interim CEO to cover founder Jude Habib's sabbatical at SoundDelivery. If you care about getting the voice of diverse groups of people out into the media, this role could be for you. #charityJob www.sounddelivery.org.uk/jobs/interim...

Had a private screening of September 5 yesterday. By which I mean I was the only one in the cinema. Great film, slightly odd experience.

One of my favourite podcasts is going weekly. Even more of the ever-excellent @timharford.ft.com!

Love stuff like this...

Now gone down a bit of a rabbit-hole with two episodes dedicated to the sound design of Bluey. Fascinating stuff.

A podcast about radio jingles? Sign me up...!

If you want an unusual but good reply for those times people ask what the UK does well, mention the gov.uk and nhs.uk websites. Easy to navigate, simple to understand, accessible, and always genuinely useful.

Now on delayed train and settling in to listen to Marshall Ganz read his book...

First work trip of the year (and indeed since October) to Leeds. Not to WP thou. Is it me or are the trains busier than they were ?

It was a phone appointment. I found this out whilst sat in the car, just about to set out for the GP practice.

"Up the borough..."

Continuing my mini series of books by TV journalists who also have a sideline in DJing: First was @edconway.bsky.social and now @rosatkins.bsky.social (him of those Explainer videos) and his excellent Art of Explanation book. Lots of good advice; so many people I can think of who need to read this!

Went to register on the DBS website this afternoon. Half way through the application process the website stopped responding and didn't restart. I've just checked and it's now down until 6pm tomorrow. I'm now really worried what they got on me that has triggered them pulling the whole service! 😮
