This was the first time I encountered an #ADA cert. #kayak launch. I took my time to explore it, noticed some peculiar design choices and then started looking at how-to videos online, but the material was sparse. You would think there would be more material available. #kayaking

#Kayaking has been such a profound benefit to my #mentalhealth I cannot imagine not paddling for as long as I live. It's obvious; you're outside, in nature, & exercising. However, there's more, almost supernatural. I see it in the eyes of others who have experienced the same, hear it in their voice.

Stopped at a cute paddling and cycling store; not a lot of paddling stuff, which is sad. There seems to be an industry wide phenomenon where quality kayak gear is hard to find. However, cute cats are cute. #kayak #kayaking Most of the stores I find only have fishing kayaks or cheap pelicans.

#kayak #kayaking Paddled out at Lake Griffin State Park in Florida. Clean, large parking lot, boat ramps and kayak ramps ( with handicap accessible features ). The water is dark and difficult to see beneath it, but there are alligators and manatees and birds.

The #Brazos river can have steep 20 to 40 foot banks at every access point. I've debated on how to lift/lower #kayak for #kayaking to preserve my back, I enjoy the workout but long term this won't be a viable option. My heaviest yak is 80 lbs.

I'm the tiny speck #kayaking away as my dog Sendak watches me go. He's been on a #kayak before, but really prefers Stand Up Paddle boards. He goal is to get him used to riding in a canoe, so that I can take him on long excursions like the Weiner dog in John Graves book Goodbye to a River.

#kayak #kayaking #canoe #canoeing This is my first canoe; it's from a Canadian company called Niska ( which doesn't exist anymore ). I think it was an indigenous peoples ( Nisga'a ) owned company. It's approximately 17 ft and made of fiberglass, model: Equinox. I have no idea what the age is.
