Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

“Unfortunately, the already-approved funding has not been reliably available to us to access since early February,” an MPCA spokesperson said. minnesotareformer.com/2025/02/21/t...

Trump and Musk have fired Minnesotans like: -- Park Rangers at Voyageurs -- Fire protection engineers -- Workers who care for our veterans -- Workers who care for folks with disabilities -- Workers who dole out small business loans How does this help anyone?

This was just 233 days ago:

For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 1%, it can collect $13. For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 0.1%, it can collect $26. Laying off 7,000 IRS employees (during tax season) isn't about efficiency. It's about making it easier for the rich to evade taxes.

AGAIN: If they actually cared about the deficit they wouldn’t also be cutting trillions in taxes for the rich. They think we are all very dumb.

"Move fast and break things" sounds like some bold techbro vision of innovation, but it's also the same motto of thieves who want to do a smash-and-grab and get the fuck out before anybody can catch them.

To the extent that Musk has a super-power it is that he is an obscenely rich person who is willing to confidently say (and get many people to accept) completely untrue things that (coincidentally) always serve his own interests. He's an ignorant person's idea of what an informed person sounds like.

A few days late to this but CFPB now has a tip line (on X, of course) for people to complain if agency employees are still doing their jobs. HuffPost confirmed it was legit.

This is 💯 the plan. And the Trump Secretary of the Interior is exactly the kind of person to push this through. The NPS is one of America's best ideas ever, and these creeps are salivating to kill it.

For me, the most incredible artefacts from the ancient world are the letters people wrote on clay tablets and sent to one another over thousands of years in Mesopotamia, going back to more than 5,000 years ago. They contain recognisable humanity, warmth and humour. Here's a thread of my favourites.

Hyperloop, boring company, full self-driving, cpap machines when promising ventilators during covid, promising to clean Flint's water, promise to save the kids in a cave, promise to land on mars...

I will say again: The destruction of the CFPB—an agency that has brought in $20 billion over a little more than a decade despite having an annual budget that's less than what DOD has spent so far today—is the clearest sign none of this has anything to do with saving taxpayers money.

Our military will soon be asked to make a very stark choice. There will be mass unrest in this country as these disastrous changes take effect. Trump will invoke the insurrection act at some point. You will be ordered to inflict violence on your fellow citizens. Think through this before it happens.

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me." Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.

The more I think about it, the more it seems many who took their oath to defend the Constitution treated it as nothing more than a TOS to click through merely to unlock the positions they wanted. Oaths pledged in ignorance by those without honor are meaningless.

“MaYbe shE’s goiNg to be in TroUble nOw” Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start

"So this is how liberty dies… " Making sense of Trump's first three weeks open.substack.com/pub/christin...

The Greatest Generation and Silent Generation combined now make up less than 5% of the population. We're experiencing what happens when the people who remember the Before Times are all gone and a new batch of idiots chafe at restrictions on what they want to do. FAFO on a grand scale.

Considering emailing last semester’s class to tell them that the investiture controversy never ended

It is so hard to get through to people that before food stamps, kids starved. Before meat inspections, kids died. Before vaccines, kids died. You're choosing to kill children to save a buck & you refuse to see it because it's not real to you

What he said...

Somehow we ended up, as a country, with evil rulers who are too dumb and corrupt to even be Darth Vader or the Emperor. Instead we have dorks who looked at the Prequels and decided they wanted to be the Trade Federation.

I hope MSHSL stands tall, but there's a lot of caving going on right now.

Goldman: "My Republican colleagues are so weak and afraid of Donald Trump that they're willing to undermine their own constitutional authority just to please them. You're giving away your own power in fealty to Donald Trump."

@brandiyorkart.bsky.social is amazing. Can recommend.

Meanwhile in Russia: state TV host Evgeny Popov says that Trump is doing Moscow's job by ripping apart the Western world — whipsawing right through it, the way Russia always wanted to. Popov says that it's truly amazing. youtu.be/JG29upm5HPE
