I have just learned that there is something akin to a tea shop in Avowed...I don't know if we can actually sit and have tea in it, so I guess I'm gonna have to download the game. For research, you understand.

When someone tells you that you seemed really excited talking about doing a thing you have no experience in, in comparison to your regular job where you don't seem creatively fulfilled:

Volume 2 of Sprigs & Kindling, the Carved from Brindlewood fanzine, is out TODAY. This issue features 100+ pages of awesome stuff for The Between, and is 100% FREE. I interviewed Amanda Mullins, one of the zine's creators, for The Gauntlet Podcast (2nd Edition), which is also up! Links to follow.

Being an adult is like “Ratatouille” except you’re both the hapless human AND the rat who’s trying to get him to stop being terrible at everything and also the food is worse

Maybe it’s just me, but Republicans having two daddies seems kind of woke.

Academics have always been complaining about admin duties eating into their teaching and research time

if your beans didn't soften while cooking it's not because you salted too early. it's not because you added too much acid. it's not because the beans are too old. it's because you're impure of heart and the beans Know

Enjoy this superb owl. ✨

“Do not bend your neck for that which cuts necks.” A Sumerian proverb, as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.

Hardly new info, but BSky should know: Warsaw's water quality is monitored by eight clams with magnets attached to their shells. If contamination in the water causes the clams to close, the magnets trigger an alarm and shut off the city's water supply. Thank you, little guardian molluscs. 🧪🌏🚰

We went into Barter Books, a second hand bookstore in Alnwick that gives store credit, with 20 books... ...and we came out with 19 😅 #BookSky

I’m a part time librarian and I just want to echo what I’ve seen other librarians say recently: there is a HUGE uptick in requests for social justice, climate justice, abolition, history, etc books and I just want to say nobody is giving up the fight. If anything people are fighting harder #library

Sooooo....if I wrote an Agatha Christie themed supplement for the Brindlewood Bay #TTRPG by the brilliant @jasoncordova.bsky.social, that's something that would interest people, right...? (I mean, joke's on everyone else as I'm probably gonna do it anyway 🕵🏻) #MurderMystery #RPGWriting

If you do not like that your games are being released without voiceover, please write to the companies producing them and tell them to sign the SAG-AFTRA INTERIM AGREEMENT to guarantee their actors the right to consent to being fed into generative AI. We are being denied that right.

It's enough to give you the SHIVERs! Had a good time at #Vapnartak today, though minis are not hugely my thing...thankfully @parablegames.bsky.social were also there, and Doom treated me to one of their #ShiverRPG bundles! #TTRPG #HorrorGame #TabletopGames #HorrorMovies

Okay, but why did nobody tell me that @ursulakleguin.com's Earthsea books were so good? (Okay, yes, I was told, shut up.)

goooood morning campers! it's that time. i loveeeee seeing little glimpses into everyone's day #hourlycomicsday

It's that time of the year for my silly, rushed, messy scribbles again! #hourlycomicsday2025

From a journalist friend: Just spreading the word. The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down.

Fascinating to see the numbers from George here - in narrative design, "19% of designers who responded to the survey reporting that they had fallen victim to cuts". I wonder if this will be actively noticeable in games developed in 2024, and what they'll look like as a result?

‘Phonetic’ is not. ‘Abbreviation’ is 12 letters. ‘Thesaurus’ doesn’t have a synonym. Say what you will about English, but it has a sense of humor.

#Andor continues to be relevant.

TTRPG folks with Substack newsletters may want to consider alternatives such as buttondown.com and ghost.org. 'Cos Substack has just doubled down on its tolerance for nazis.

Pretty big deal. @bookshop-org.bsky.social is selling ebooks now. You can now support indies while purchasing digital books. bookshop.org/ebooks

Fuck Gibson. Fuck Stallone. Fuck Voight. Go off, Arnie!

I recently started Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. (No, not related to that Gilead.) I will admit it is not a book that I would have sought out on my own - a dying Rev in America writing a letter to his young son about his life. But it's very touching, and I don't regret picking it up one bit.

Waiter lifting a Doom shaker: "Would you like some fresh Doom for your scrolling?" Me: "Just a little." Waiter: "Say when..." *the cap falls off the Doom shaker, covering my feed in Doom* Me: "Um. That's enough." *beeping as the waiter backs a dump truck of Doom toward my table*

•sarcasm on• I have no idea what this might look like. You? •sarcasm off•
