If they’re truly serious about cutting waste & abuse, they should go to K St & ban lobbyists from DC. Make each biz either have to pay own employees to reach out to members of Congress in DC or have a lobbyist hustle out to all 50 states to representatives’ offices. No lobbyist contact in DC.

This is probably the most accurate take.

Time for some good, quiet trouble. In a way that won’t feed his desires. Economic slowdowns. Boycotts. Sickouts. Slow walking. Action by inaction. As hard as it is, stand back and let his supporters be hurt by his actions until they are the ones begging for mercy and change.

“There’s probably a couple of kinks in that slinky.” — Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), quoted by Politico, on President Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to “own” the Gaza Strip. Is Thom finding his own slinky spine?

This is a good NPR piece on the lies on which Trump's tariff attack are based. 1) Far fewer deaths than Trump and @karolineleavitt claimed 2) Almost no Canadian involvement 3) Biden already made progress on reversing it Every tariff story should start by debunking lies www.npr.org/2025/02/02/n...

This comments section is the first time I've felt even a shred of hope in eight days.

Local Spectrum station in NC, covering yesterday’s Trump visit, talked about how to man who had received $750 from FEMA and how that wasn’t enough to rebuild a home. No follow up about how that’s the initial get feet back on the ground after a disaster, not the only help available.

Just sent this to my two R Senators. FWIW. Total respect to CookOut btw. IYKYK.
