WAWC once provided abortion care in Alabama. They refused to close their doors post-Dobbs. Now, they do everything else — PrEP, contraception, prenatal care. But they need $100k to keep their doors open until grants kick in in 2025. If half my skeeps joined me in donating $25, we'd make their goal.

In 1999 I was part of a student campaign to get sexual orientation added as a protected class to our school anti-bullying policy. I spoke at a school board meeting. We lost. I knew two out kids in HS, in my well educated blue college town. One of them got sent to conversion therapy.

I remember how, as soon as it came out that severe COVID outcomes were disproportionately minorities, a lot of white people concluded that COVID wasn't so bad. Nevermind that this didn't make COVID any less dangerous for them. Racism sat higher on their hierarchy of needs than self-preservation.
