I'm reminded of a P G Wodehouse story in which Polly Pott muses that a chap is the kind of man who likes to go around kissing girls when a handshake or just an affable nod of acknowledgement would suffice. The chap's name? The Earl of Ickenham.

Think I'm gonna do a triple bill tomorrow of Marcel the Shell, Flow, and The Wild Robot. Because I haven't dehydrated myself crying at a movie in a while. #Cryfest

Before I saw A Complete Unknown, I didn't know that Diamonds and Rust (which I love) was about Dylan. Now I can't stop thinking about the line 'My poetry was lousy, you said.'

The Children of Jocasta, my 2017 retelling of Oedipus and Antigone, is on a Kindle deal for just 99p! Grab it quickly, e-readers… Don’t forget you can get the gorgeous real thing from your local bookshop, too, to treasure 📕♥️🏠 www.amazon.co.uk/Children-Joc...

Arnalds to go to sleep, Einaudi to wake up.

I didn't much like The Witch. I liked and admired The Northman but found it a little bit daft in parts. I am weirdly excited to go see Nosferatu.

I'm sorry that anyone had to go through this, but it is wonderful Christmas entertainment ❤️

With all the progress feminism has made in the last 100 years, why do we still have women's fragrances called 'Petal' and 'Bellissima' and men's ones called 'Strider' and 'Roughneck'?

Are there seriously fragrances called "Good Girl" and "Bad Boy"? Christ on a bike, what decade are we in, again?

assuming 10 plants per row, and 4.5kg of beans per plant, this works out as 40.5kg of beans and a modest amount of honey, and this has got to keep yeats going for an entire year

I miss Luciano Pavarotti. I only just realised there's a whole album by him duetting with people like Jon Bon Jovi and Sheryl Crow. Just listened to 'Là ci darem la mano' from Don Giovanni with Ms Crow, from that album, and it's fabulous.
