So. It has officially happened. I have been officially let go from my position at CDC. I wasn’t a probationary employee. I had stellar performance reviews every year. I’ll be ok. But please understand that many worked HARD to get into these positions and were doing great public health work.

Whenever you welcome guests, treat them with kindness, grace and respect. Simple as that.

What I am thinking about this morning: I - and just about everyone else who studies authoritarian regimes - are rightly sounding the alarm bell about the dangers that Trump poses to American democracy. The danger is real. But I also worry about people giving up hope. They shouldn't.
