Tariffs are sales taxes which are regressive, meaning that they hit the poor & middle class the hardest (because we all need to buy the products they affect). Tariffs also take a typically state responsibility & make it apply nationally, automatically. Deceptive!

Trump’s tariffs serve to shift paying for government from all taxpayers to just the poor & middle class, given the next step of huge tax cuts for the wealthy. The “we” who need to suffer is not all of us! The wealthy can even afford to play options games & make money from the stock market crash.

I recently learned that Musk's family originally came from Canada and that his grandfather was an active right-winger, a Nazi sympathizer, there during a time when such activity was not popular. Maybe Trump's absurd animus toward Canada stems from Musk's family stories whispered in Trump's ear.
