tomorrow it is forecasted to be one degree above freezing— and we desperately need that degree

will some subset of people get a “check with trump’s name on it” if he drops in the polls enough? is that the scam?

as a granddaughter of a convent dropout, I can’t help but be a little on pope watch

i don’t know if other people have this kind of exhaustion but in addition to the “regular coup exhaustion”+”fear for my life exhaustion," I have serious learning exhaustion— similar to getting my PhD. So many theoretical ideas, things people have said to me, docs I’ve researched are “clicking”…

I don’t understand how there’s any debate about whether to characterize them as Nazis when they’re out here sieg heiling. It’s an absolute failure of messaging not to name and condemn this behavior, and build a narrative around it.

A group of wolves is called a pack and a group of Nazis is called a CPAC.

Oh. Okay.

We are crowd sourcing reductions in graduate admissions and hiring freezes across biomedical research and higher ed in response to pauses in NIH funding and EO’s. If you have information if you could add to this spreadsheet, it would be greatly appreciated!: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Probationary periods are a bad employer-centric practice. They disproportionately impact caregivers & protected classes who often are challenged by transportation, caregiving & illnesses during the first 30-90 days of work. Get rid of these periods. Most employers can fire most of us at will anyway

i never stopped masking but saw more people masking at the Farmers Market than i’ve seen masking in years. all i could think is: are all these people sick? wtf is going on? i’m always so excited when people start masking again but is that what is happening?

What Maine Gov Janet Mills did is significant & within reach for many of us Mills said NO She’s not well known, that room was full of republicans, and ME is a divided state: CD1 voted Harris & CD2 Trump. She put time, resources & her rep on the line for trans women, for democracy & to stop a coup

pillow talk

maine reddit is extra extra right now.

a lot of people want to not be held responsible for slavery and indigenous genocide but want to hold onto the generational wealth and preferential structures resulting from them. I mean, I know it's obvious but I think it should probably get said out loud a lot more often

haters have tried transphobic bullshit before in Maine and we have out-organized them

hey yall! i hate to do this but im a black trans woman full time student! Im in a legal battle with my landlord for negligence, now sustaining in my decaying moldy apartment has doubled my cost of living. i am seeking to raise $5,000 to move to a cleaner safer apartment/legal fees. please share.🙏🏽

Need $250 to cover food costs since EBT ran out. I have some time to raise money. Chronictami on Cash App/Venmo

real story: when i feel awful because i can’t afford my medicine i tell myself to be strong like my grandma. one of my earliest memories is my grandfather coming at her with a chainsaw in the woods. sometimes i think i’m done sometimes i think, don’t underestimate me

Federal workers launch a new site to share inside information about DOGE

i need to convince my mind/body that sleeping for sequential hours is cool

I've been processing the termination of the HHS Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Long COVID, of which I was an unpaid volunteer member. This decision doesn’t just eliminate a committee—it diminishes the voices of millions suffering. 🧵

This is stupid, dangerous, and illegal. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

people can work really hard at something and they can still be a fraud running a scam. it’s often not easy to tell and, at least for me, really stings when i figure it out and i feel ashamed but obviously it should be on them

Researchers working on the Career Firefighter Health Study received notice last week of the CDC contract’s termination.

#didthistoday Emailed my state Bar Association to complain about my reps who are lawyers while going along with all the illegal firings at Department of Justice. They are criming and should be investigated. Lawyers of the 119th congress: www.americanbar.org/content/dam/...

some of us have been pretty successfully yelling at out so-called independent junior Senator in Maine

“Marcus L. Smith, the 39-year-old man who was shot and killed by Akron police on Monday morning, was successful and loved people and sports but struggled with severe mental illness, his sister shared in a statement with the Beacon Journal on Wednesday.” www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/l...

i think about leaving here daily. as a poor white woman in Maine i feel like i’m often at best a stereotype and at worst a bad joke. i stay because it’s all i have but at some point i know it’s more damaging than helpful.

passwords, why?

it was a choice not to close guantanamo

you can always drop them at a library or food pantry if you don’t get COVID lol
