Brother Ignatz trying to get out of dish duty by pretending to be a stand of reeds. again.

A 9"x6" watercolor peafowl I just finished this month, and a few older watercolor and red colored pencil sketches of a female American Goldfinch and an American Flamingo. All are available in my shop if they catch your interest! featherdust.storenvy.com/collections/...

Tapirs everywhere! This male was checking me out this evening at @tapirvalley.bsky.social. Their proboscises are so fun. #tapirs #costarica

this Synthetoceras is my last of 2024. I think i improved a lot when it comes to painting with traditional mediums this year. Still long ways to go. Hoping to dab into more mediums in 2025!

hard to force myself to paint anything else when drawing birds is so relaxing. Here's a blackbird wip I will hopefully abandon in favour of a more productive activity

Mammoths

A triple portrait of Thylacines I`ve just finished. Painted in watercolours and is based on the well known videos from Hobart zoo.

One of my absolute favorite North American animals to paint, the pronghorn antelope. I’ve always thought they look a bit exotic like they belong on the plains of Africa. “Speed Dating,” oil on linen, 24”x48”. #ArtAdventCalander #pronghorn #wildlifeart #art #oilpainting

I missed some chances for more #repostober :( I'll just post more old art without the hashtag from now on 😅 #artwork

Another favorite from this Spring; White-winged Dove samples a Saguaro blossom 🪶☀️🌵

This one was a big inspiration for me when I started painting a few years ago. Storms are a staple of classical art but you don't find a lot of people who do tornadoes, and paintings of supercells seem even more rare. I'll put some of these up for Art Advent Calendar starting in a few days

I also drew this guy today! #colorpencil #drawing

Commissioned illustration—this one was for a historical fiction graphic novel (set in 1894 New Mexico) about a naturalist/expert wolf hunter tasked with killing a legendary wolf named Lobo.

Decided to pitch in on the interpretations of the 3 week-old Homotherium cub. What a phenomenal discovery. I'm very excited to see what other research will be published. #paleoart

Just learned the absolutely insane news that a cub of what is likely a Homotherium latidens was found and just described. Couldnt help but make a quick study of it. Too busy to take it any further now but i’m sure i’ll return to it as soon as I’m able

Perhaps my favorite photo I've ever taken of a storm. Nothing beats structure and clean bolts under the stars.

A piece of mine from 2022! A leucistic Livyatan calf with her mother, off the coast of New Zealand. Circa 4 million years ago.

A piece of mine from 2022! "Lost" An abandoned Etruscan bear cub stumbles upon a Hesperotherium (a Chalicothere), whom happens to just curiously observe the lost creature. Northern China circa 1.5 million years ago.
