I agree with almost everything which is said here, except for the obvious discount of the kind of politics a CDU-led government will pursue on the domestic level. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

6 days to go until the German elections and the prospectives are pretty bleak - at least from my view. We are heading towards a situation in which there are a much-strengthened far-right and at the same time the prospect of a return/reinforcement of policies by a CDU-led government

Last October I had the pleasure of being interviewed by our wonderful Oslo-based student-run history magazine Fortid and to talk about my research and my teaching. As their website is still down, I have gained permission to share it. Anyone interested in a pdf of the full interview, let me know.

The urgency of the situation created by the recent assault on USAID conveyed through this statement by the AFSC, a Quaker organization which throughout its long history (founded in 1917) has often acted as a critical observer and participant in official US aid efforts. afsc.org/news/shuttin...

Biggest German tabloid baselessly suggests that pre-election mass demonstrations where hundreds of thousands of people have been marching for democracy and against normalizing the far right are orchestrated by government agencies.

#BlueKita #BlueLZ #BTW25

www.nybooks.com/online/2024/... A very good historically grounded analysis by Ernesto Semán of the recent developments in Argentina with cross-references to among others Quinn Slobodian's book "crack-up capitalism"

Since we're on this topic, I wrote about Band Aid / Live Aid as populist humanitarianism and the kind of intervention it created here: amzn.eu/d/bu3sJ7r. I also mention Bryan Adams, AC/DC *and* Céline Dion in a single paragraph... 🗃️

Great initiative!
