Last day of my 20 LPs. I was limited to 1 album per band but I started with P Floyd and I’ll end with them, Dark Side. THE great album. Production values were through the roof. They’d been playing it for a year. Lyrics so many identified with. Perhaps Waters was right, they should have ended here?

Day 19 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Edgar Broughton’s album, Break the Dark. Beautifully reflective songs. I’ve been listening to it all over and again since its release in 2023.

Day 18 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Led Zep IV. The high point of their creativity. I thought the next albums were disappointing. A few outstanding tracks eg No Quarter, Kashmir.

Day 17 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Gentle Giant’s 2nd album Acquiring the Taste. For a time I knew Ray Schulman. Such a good man.

One poor run out and the wheels begin to fall off.

Day 16 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Abbey Road by The Beatles. Nothing more to be said really.

Day 15 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Supertramp’s Crime of the Century. Nothing they did after this came close.

Day 14 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Jan Garbarek is a saxophonist from Norway. I got into his music thro the albums with Hilliard Ensemble.

Day 13 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Playback from Appletree Theatre. A quirky concept album. Everyone should hear this. Favourite of Peel, Everett & others.

Day 12 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. 1 album per band or artist. Shepherd Moon by Enya. I love the tranquil fragility of all her work.

Day 11 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. 1 album per band or artist. Kevin Ayers’ masterwork, Confessions of Dr Dream. Side 2 is epic. I was delighted he reworked Why Are We Sleeping from the 1st Soft Machine album.

Day 10 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. 1 album per band or artist. All my choices should be listened to in entirety. Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love. In my view this is when she reached maturity as a musician.

Day 9 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. 1 album per band or artist. All my choices should be listened to in entirety. Beware of the Beautiful Stranger. Music Pete Atkin, words Clive James. All their songs are wonderful. This was the start.

Day 8 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band or artist. All my choices should be listened to complete & not cherry picked. Court and Spark by Joni Mitchell. The start of her ‘jazz’ period. Lyrically & musically beautiful.

Day 7 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Threshold of a Dream by Moody Blues. This comes in the middle of a run of albums from Lost Chord to Children’s Children. Seen as pretentious in some circles but I love it.

Day 6 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Quadrophenia by The Who. Definitely their magnum opus. Side 4 should always be heard in one go as really it’s a suite. Finally got to see them play it in full in 2013.

Day 5 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me, which I go back to time and again. Limiting myself to 1 album per band. Cream's double album. Issued as two separate LPs - live & studio. For years I only ever owned the live album. When I heard the first few bars of Crossroads I jumped out of my seat.

Day 4 of my 20 Albums that have influenced me and which I go back to time and again. I'm limiting myself to 1 album per band. Foxtrot by Genesis. Featuring the towering Supper’s Ready.

Day three of my 20 Albums that have influenced me and which I go back to time and again. I'm limiting myself to 1 album per band. This is Close to the Edge. Possibly the high point of prog rock.

What a woman. Trump’s reaction tells you everything you need to know about him.

From an idea by @wrhibbie.bsky.social 20 albums that have been important to me. I've limited myself to only one per band or artist. Day 2: King Crimson's awesome debut album.

Great idea. Here’s the first album I ever bought in autumn 1968 aged 16. Nothing sounded like it at the time. Got into PF through a school friend. When they became big I almost resented the people who jumped on the bandwagon. A bit like football supporters following a team when they’re winning.

"Afghan women are only allowed in a sports stadium to be stoned, flogged, or hanged." If you play for #EnglandCricket v AFG, watch #EngvAFG, are #EnglandCricket, coach #AFG, you're OK with this as you perpetuate the system. Do you recommend it for your country, or think it's not too bad? #cricket
