Mid-month summary: 2025 is ~10% ahead of 2024. Next week is looking dry and warmer, then unsettled the week after, so my prediction is that we'll end the month with overall growth but less than 10%.

January 2025 gave us floods, storms, snow and ice - yet the Oxford Road Cycleway count totals are almost exactly the same as in 2024. Despite this, the January combined record was once again broken. Southbound, only January 2020 was higher. On comparable days, 2025 counts were ~15% up on 2024.

On Friday 31st January 2025 there were 2,471 cyclists northbound and 2,162 cyclists southbound.

On Thursday 30th January 2025 there were 2,782 cyclists northbound and 2,498 cyclists southbound.

On Wednesday 29th January 2025 there were 2,681 cyclists northbound and 2,389 cyclists southbound.

On Monday 27th January 2025 there were 2,619 cyclists northbound and 2,341 cyclists southbound.

We're into the last week of January. On dry, non-icy days, cycle counts have been up on previous years. But with all the bad weather we've had, we're currently down on last year. About 3% growth on last year's numbers needed this week for 2025 to exceed 2024.

On Sunday 26th January 2025 there were 1,092 cyclists northbound and 975 cyclists southbound.

On Saturday 25th January 2025 there were 1,295 cyclists northbound and 1,158 cyclists southbound.
