TikTok having a feed designed purely for STEM related topics is a huge double-edged sword. STEM is important, but not without the arts and culture that should come with it. I hope it doesn't go the Meta/X route of purporting pseudo science and conspiracies.

Big tech is now formally in league with the far-right. The resistance to it will be personal and political iandunt.substack.com/p/how-to-res...

Amanda Montell's book Cultish really taught me a lot about the coercive power of language. Whilst it has a focus on cults, it can be applied to every day life and discussions around politics. We see thought-terminating cliches everywhere in politics, and it' important to notice when they're used.

We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn

Today, I am thinking of all those who have been reunited with friends and family. I am thinking of the thousands of children in Gaza who have been killed or orphaned, with nobody or no home to return to. [1/2]

Well done America, you voted in a fascist 😬

Trump promises ‘historic’ day one with barrage of executive orders

Read Vol. 1-3 of Atsuko Asano's No.6. The parallels of the post-capitalist dystopia and our present life are astounding. The ultra-rich purge the earth then hide away in their perfect cities, using propoganda to control their people, and neglecting those they threw out. Here are my thoughts:

Thoughts go out to my friends in the USA. The fact that a government (who purported ideas of free market) went and banned an app due to baseless security concerns is vile. Zuckerberg and Musk now hold the power of what you see, and both are regressive misogynists. Good luck, USA, you'll need it.

As a musician myself, Spotify's algorithm is horrifically uninspiring. They push viral TikTok songs into poorly curated playlists made by AI, and their shuffle feature is repetitive. Not to mention the number of ghost artists created by spotify and clogging playlists, minimising payout to artists.

Deeply disappointing to see the lack of awareness of history and connection to the community displayed by the war memorial. The Korean Australian community are such a positive resource here, they should be respected not ignored. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-01...

"I'm not going to be distracted by these matters..." yet Libby Mettam is the one doing precisely that, distracting and dividing us with these matters of culture politics. The ALP isn't wasting voters' time with a faux culture war facade. They're out there talking to us about issues that matter.

Just saw a tiktok about how reading is the new luxury status symbol and I’m like yessss, finally my time has come!

Taboo, by @hannahferguson.bsky.social, is the most important book every man should read coming into 2025. It confirmed everything my femme friends shared with me; confirmed my own thoughts about the patriarchy. So, let's begin with radical honesty. Have a convo you never thought you'd have.
