Edinburgh places I really miss: Cafe Byzantium on Victoria Street, upstairs in the former St James Church (now Berties). I still find myself dreaming about their vegetable koftas (and the pocket-money prices).

If you've enjoyed books such as 'The Midnight Library', 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold', 'The Time Traveler's Wife' and 'The Ministry of Time', you'll love 'How Soon Is Now?' Out now in print, on Kindle and from Audible! #BookSky #MustRead #SaturdayReads #TimeTravel www.amazon.co.uk/How-Soon-Now...

Currently watching this on ITVX and it’s so good. The quality of the film transfer belies its age (1967!), superbly well written and made too 👌 We all know “that quote” and I dare say anyone living in the West Mids has made more than one trip to Port Merion over the years youtu.be/0a1_v-BJ-Wc

Cricket’s found a fantastic new place to play which will, now that she’s been extricated, stay very carefully closed.

Today’s joyous listening, from the fine folk at @cherryredrecords.bsky.social As always, an immaculate mix of big hits and left-field choices. Look at that track listing - pure pop heaven!

Private Eye exposing again the utter idiocy of our politics. This sums up *exactly* how Farage and Reform get rocket-boosted by a media, drunk on sensationalist nonsense. Unserious and irresponsible but it’ll be up to us to prove them wrong.

Made the mistake of replying politely but in the negative to a book marketing chancer and I’ve been rewarded with a reply reiterating their diligence and attention to detail which gets both my name and the name of the book they’re fulsomely praising completely wrong.

I’m hoping this Instagram post promoting the audio release of ‘How Soon Is Now?’ will leave readers with the impression that I am as photogenic as narrator Angus King, the man pictured right beside my quote…

Here's a chat I had with the lovely team at the Ulverscroft Group, publishers of the audio version of my novel 'How Soon Is Now?' Learn about the origins of the Nostalgia Club, future writing projects, the one thing I'd bring back from the 80s ... and more! www.ulverscroft.com/news/paul-ca...

A memorial to the actor, singer, and music hall comedian Mark Sheridan in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. While you may not be familar with the name, you'll almost certainly know his most famous song 'I do like to be beside the seaside', which he recorded in 1909. Cont./ #glasgow #kelvingrovepark

I'm having ANOTHER #play read for my #script about refugee detention 1940 style. Thrown By Giants is the story of my family's arrival in Britain and the hotels refugee women were packed into. Friends, strangers and enemies cramped together on a remote island. 16th July, Waterloo. £5 bit.ly/4mZnyUq

My Bluesky feed is full of almost nothing but love for Brian Wilson, and this is as it should be.

Another bump for this ridiculously cheap offer on the Kindle and hardback editions of Broken Biscuits and Other Male Failures. We’re all up against it with the cost of living and I just want people to read and enjoy this book, so here’s your opportunity. #booksky amzn.eu/d/aWI6TEY

I might have to borrow some thumbs to be able to give enough thumbs up to Alan Sparhawk's album with Trampled By Turtles. It is a mighty and profoundly moving thing.

It's completely wild to me just how well The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet has done already, and it's only been out for a month! Hundreds of ratings and reviews and people posting their copies with the cutest floral arrangements 🥰 Support pride, buy queer; not just this month but all the year!

Now that Amazon has removed the ability to view the precise number of each star rating on my books' product pages, what am I going to obsessively check and recheck now? Percentages just don't scratch that itch!

Here's my playlist of the NME's top singles of 1987. Expect Prince in fine form, the best in hip hop, early house classics, plus The Sugarcubes, The Fall, That Petrol Emotion, New Order and Pet Shop Boys all delivering the goods ▶️1️⃣9️⃣8️⃣7️⃣ open.spotify.com/playlist/0bF...

Musk exclusive: ‘I’m a weedy little prick and only have the balls to stand up to elderly paedos when I’m off my head on K.’

Happy birthday to my first-born baby book, 'How Soon Is Now?', which entered the public arena one year ago today! I couldn't be happier with the way my twisty time travel tale has been received – thanks to everyone who's bought, read, reviewed and boosted! #BookSky www.amazon.co.uk/How-Soon-Now...

A month today I'm setting off for the Ferry to Ireland for @wcorklitfest.bsky.social where I'm talking #TheCompanyOfOwls and running a 3 day #NatureWriting workshop 14th-16th, where we'll be looking at lots of different kinds of nature writing and doing some together. Please spread the word & book!

Without downloading any new pics, where are you at mentally?

A few years ago I was walking over to our warehouse carrying a can of WD40 to sort out some squeaky doors when a car full of neds slowed down so one of them could wind down his window and shout 'HEY, MISTER! OIL ME!' in my direction. The homoerotic subtext probably wasn't what he'd been aiming for.

Bruce is a great writer. You'll enjoy this!
