It’s interesting to observe that much of the fixed costs of our society are simply a result of how we build our communities around cars. In a denser, more human focused community, cars might be a luxury again. Lawns could be parks and garages optional. Less cost to the taxpayers and the individuals.

UPDATE: The charges against her have been dropped “in the interest of justice” (she bit one of the brownshirts that assaulted her) and the private security firm has lost their license to operate. I hope she sues them into oblivion.

"Most of the things that make life survivable aren't profitable. Teaching, caring for elders, helping people escape domestic violence, just to start...Yet, they all exist — b/c we at one point decided just because something couldn’t yield a profit, didn’t mean we didn’t want or need that service."

Official Petition to the House of Commons "We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to transition official government communications away from Twitter/X" MP Charlie Angus is the sponsor www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en... #Canada

So Ford wants to build a55km tunnel under the 401 for just over 100B dollars. Putting aside the astounding stupidity of this idea, I can’t help but wonder what ACTUAL solutions could be done for that price tag. How much subway could we get? What about rail?

I had to double check the source on this, was certain it was the Onion or the Beaverton doing their excellent satire. Oil companies are so funny, but the sad part is most people will fall for it.

This is savage. I love it!

Listening to the Ontario leaders debate I’m so glad I live in one of the two strong green ridings in the province and can vote my conscience. I am proud to support Aislynn Clancy and thus Mike Schreiner in the upcoming election. They both argue in good faith and respect data and the facts.

Nothing like record breaking amounts of snow to bring the neighbourhood together. I am afraid what happens when this all melts but for now it is fun. Check out that clear sidewalk though @mdruker.app 😅

Sourdough focaccia apple fritter. It combines all my favourite foods into one amazing dish. But the recipe needs some work. More iterations needed. For science.🧪

Genuine question: people say Doug Ford is one of Canada’s best Conservative politicians. But what is it that makes him conservative? All I see is the vote bribing, grift, and corruption. Can someone point out a legitimate Conservative thing he has done? Is it the love he has for car culture?

Two Way Street. A reworked version I made from a police produced victim and youth blaming PSA.

If you don't already follow and support Michael de Adder, you should. IMO, he's the best political cartoonist working today. @deadder.bsky.social

I feel there is no justification for any Canadian governmental organization to still use X at this point. How do we as citizens push to ensure all government communications (at all levels) are done via open platforms (such as blue sky) going forward?

"transparency", "integrity", "independent review" - just a few of the very reasonable words in this request to improve the process of evaluating ☠️rodenticides/pesticides🧪 for use in Canada. 🐀 are dying, but so are 🦅, 🦉, and 🐝. We need to protect them! PLEASE SIGN: www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...

This gorgeous adult red-tailed hawk is hunting in the back alleys in Uptown Waterloo This beauty, this urban bird of prey is undoubtedly poisoned Rodenticides are dangerously ineffective and harmful laziness Pls consider reading and signing this petition www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...

There is just so much to love about this video, especially for Canadians of a certain age 🤖🦝
