Real help with mental health would be providing people with livable welfare payments, above the poverty line. There's sooooo much data around getting your essential needs met helping your mental health.

These interim guidelines from the EHRC on enforcing gender policing, unsurprisingly, ignore the realities of trans people’s daily lives and would erode their dignity, safety, and freedom. We must continue to resist/disrupt institutionalised transphobia.

Today's XKCD is a telling sign that fascism is coming even for beloved nerd comics. xkcd.com/3081/

It's the first major of the season in the women's golf and it is sponsored by Chevron and I keep seeing their tagline "The Human Energy Company" and all I can think of every time is those scenes in the Matrix of humans as batteries

Read @kevinjonheller.bsky.social’s excellent analysis of yesterday’s ICC Appeals Chamber decision. Precise and clear. Worth your time.

"I wish we'd listened" to a movement that represents a miniscule minority of women, because that's how democracy should work when stripping rights from people. He is so unfit for the brief he has and for a blight on the LGBTQ+ community, which he represents as well as transphobes represent women.

The response of transphobes and 'reasonable centrists' to the SC ruling really illustrates the power of legal fetishism. There was not some 'real' meaning of 'sex' floating in the legal ether that the SC has magically divined. And legal definitions certainly don't solve social questions.

My long post on the two Appeals Chamber decisions in the #Palestine situation is now up @opiniojuris.bsky.social. Thoughts welcome!

At 10:00 CET, @opiniojuris.bsky.social will publish a long post of mine on the two decisions. Read if you're a masochist.

The #ICC Appeals Chamber has decided #Israel's two appeals in the #Palestine situation. In terms of Article 18, the AC, by majority, dismissed the appeal as inadmissible. It thus did not consider the substance of Israel's argument that a new Art. 18 notification is required.

“In the multifaceted fight against fascism ahead of us, many voices will be raised to re-explain at length, again & again, why trans women are women & trans men are men.” The political push to secure biological definitions of sex will expand state border policing & surveillance. We must resist it.

“I love being a dyke - and my lesbianism will always include trans people.” While some gays write in mainstream press about the “victory” of biologically defining “same-sex attraction,” my local gay magazine in Sydney has lesbians writing unapologetically about trans inclusion. Solidarity, always.

Brilliant article by Sophie Lewis on the Supreme Court ruling: "This is also paradoxically why TERFism, like all fascist discourses ... imagines itself upside-down, as somehow preyed-upon, bullied, colonized, and at risk of genocidal erasure at the hands of the subjugated group it dehumanizes."

This is your ongoing reminder that anti-migrant (“illegals”) and anti-trans politics (“gender ideology”) are current anchors of several authoritarian governments. People who tolerate, even selectively, such politics are facilitating the rise of fascism. This is why solidarity is key to oppose this.
