Still can't believe a bunch of high school kids are reporting the news more accurately and succinctly than century-old mastheads.

That Delta flight's vertical speed was too high, right? All the news articles are talking about the snow but the landing gears just collapse, which has nothing to do with snow on the tarmac. This seems like pilot (and first officer) error. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox9G...

Tonight’s Australian Story is…tough, obviously. But so great to see these stories told, with compassion and without judgement. Watching Series 2025 Heartfelt - Colin Clausen and Laura Aisbett in iview iview.abc.net.au/show/austral...

We’re up to 6750 of the 10,000 signatures we need to force Oz Parliament to discuss the infernal Centrelink rule that keeps disabled people in abusive situations and entrenches disabled poverty. Please keep sharing #auspol

This is the only car park I’ve seen that punishes fuel efficient vehicles by putting dedicated parking as far away from the entrance as possible.

One enormous improvement they could make over Twitter is post-level privacy controls, not just account-level. Facebook does it, Circles did it (RIP), it saves having to have multiple accounts for different audiences.

If they had any sense they’d ban OpenAI on these devices too, because you *shouldn’t be feeding government information to a private data collection firm*. Holy hell people are stupid.

I would never wish anyone harm, but I do wish this gives him a different outlook on life.

Does @australianlabor.bsky.social realise abolishing the partner income test for Centrelink payments like DSP would likely win them the election? Oz friends, sign & share this Parliamentary petition. We don't have disabled marriage equality, but we could. Just 10k signatures = debate in Parliament!

I didn't fully realise until seeing the Captain America trailer, but I just don't care about Marvel movies anymore. Used to think they were fun, but that was a thing we did together, and it's hard to find any interest with it on my own.

Did America just get Thanos-snapped off TikTok?

How it feels not having looked at social media for 24 hours:

I give people going through traumatic events a lot of latitude, but we've seen entire *towns* burned to the ground in Aus, so I promise you we have some idea. Nobody in LA was going to listen to our warnings until something like this happened.

Melburnians, please tell me I wasn’t the only person silly enough to try this place once. This closing message is completely unhinged lol.

Question for folks who know these things better than me: Are the three highlighted questions kind of redundant? Pronouns I guess I can see being slightly different to gender (why tho), but the first and last question, if you actually believe people when they say it, are surely the same thing.

Someone wants to use the land of the company I work for to showcase charging EVs with...hydrogen generators. I'm trying to find a business-appropriate way to tell the PM running this he's a rube who got pitched a lemon. Nobody benefits from this hare-brained scheme.

Wow, what are the odds?!

I should get a shirt that says "I went on holiday and all I got was this lousy virus". Noosa is pretty though.

This is weird. Seat bolts should be critical joints, which mean they’re installed using electric tools that don’t permit the line to move until they’ve verified that the correct torque is reached. Nothing safety-critical should rely on worker concentration. www.techspot.com/news/106162-...

I’m not going to make any specific resolutions, but my goal for 2025 is to look back on it as a year of growth. 2024 was a year of finding my footing after everything, and hopefully this year I can push myself to new things.

I’m so glad we’re accelerating climate change so AI can provide us with these sorts of keen insights. (Under a White Lotus S3 trailer)

The South Korea crash is *horrifying*. Looks like a go-around gone horribly wrong, there’s no other reason I can think of that they’d hit the wall with that speed. Pilot error is going to be a big contributor.

And trying some B&W with a walk out in the country yesterday. (There's only so much time you can spend with the family on Christmas before you need a few minutes to touch grass.)
