Suddenly feeling really fucking angry that my employer has not made a public statement about the situation here in the U.S. Is it so wrong to expect people in power to take a stand? Publicly?

I did not paywall this; I’m trying not to do that, because we need to share such things in times of crisis. This is going to members of my family. Maybe you need it, too. It’s hard. But it’s time. 🏳️‍⚧️🧪🗃️♿️ #justice brandy-schillace.medium.com/the-letter-b...

Is the plural of titmouse, titmouses or titmice? Your unimportant, totally frivolous question of the day.

I got the nicest personalized rejection letter yesterday. I know most pubs don't have the time for such things. Totally get that. But it was kind and encouraging. And so appreciated. #WritingCommunity

We really need to understand that shaming doesn't affect these motherfuckers because they have no shame. They don't care what you think. Not even a little bit. That tactic is dead and buried.

The Washington Post refused to run this ad. Sure would be a shame if it went viral.

Reminder that in the traditional publishing world preorders carry indescribably large weight for authors in terms of determining their future careers and if you want to support, say, a trans paleontologist science writer who infuses every word of their writing with queer, trans hope, pre-order.

There’s a Project 2025 tracker to follow their progress and to see what’s ahead. The project Trump and the GOP disavowed because it was so unpopular and then began immediately to put in place. www.project2025.observer

I'm getting so close to finishing this (5th!) novel revision. Finally. Wrote a whole new section this week and now I have two and a half chapters left. Hard to believe. Beta readers will see it in March. #WritingCommunity

TODAY’S THE DAY!!!! Haunted Ecologies is out in the world and I’m so happy about it! I love all these little weird eco-horror stories…and hopefully you will to :)

Never thought I'd see the day when McConnell was the voice of reason. Fucking hell. Dems in Congress need to fight back harder. open.substack.com/pub/heatherc...

Shout it. Preach it. AI could save lives. Instead we're using it to make us dumb, lazy, and unemployed.

Please stop with the generative AI. It's garbage, theft, making us less capable. Image by www.nobodyssweetheart.com

Emailed my AG. Took about 10 minutes to compose the email, with the help of the template provided by the DREDF.

If you're in one of these states, please badger your AG. It's surprising how few constituent phone calls it takes for them to feel pressured. And this suit needs to die before it kills disabled people.

First short story acceptance of the year! Hooray! Happy Monday. 😍 #WritingCommunity

Last night, the cutest li'l deer mouse leapt out of a bag filled with bird seed cakes when I went to pick it up. It hopped on my back and I had to flick it off. It was quite terrified, of course. This morning I caught and released it. I hope it finds a warm place to live. Totally wanted to keep it.

Sometimes I get a story idea that's kinda dumb and I just have to get it out. On paper, out of my brain. And no one else ever needs to see it. #WritingCommunity

This is a very good reminder to keep your cats indoors. (Er, unless you're leashing them or keeping them on a cat patio.) I know that cats are very special little libertarians who demand their freedom to roam, but keeping them indoors keeps them and you safe. Please and thank you.

Sometimes, when waiting a long time to hear back from a short story market, I get so antsy that I can't focus on anything else and I obsessively check my email. Bad bad. So I revise and submit more stories to distract myself from the anxiety of waiting. It helps for a day or so. #WritingCommunity

I think I want to never travel during winter ever again. Really hoping that works out.

I wrote an essay for the Barnes & Noble blog about the power of horror and how intensely cathartic the genre can be. I hope you check it out! ❤️ www.barnesandnoble.com/blog/eric-la...

Two rejections this morning, including from long-shot market. I appreciate when they make it quick. Will submit somewhere else today. #WritingCommunity
