My grandmother* lived on the east side of Houston for more than 60 years, basically making her neighbors with the Houston Ship Channel. Up until the EPA cracked down in the 90s, the toxic air pollution smelled so bad that it’d give you a headache. And cancer rates out there are still crazy high.
