I’m fortunate enough to have private medical health access, thanks to Hub’s employer. I’ve just heard from a specialist I’ve been referred to that they are so busy the wait list is 12 MONTHS long. That’s private healthcare, 12 month wait. What happens if that’s the only option?!

One thing that I haven't seen calculated yet is just how expensive the current Governments cancellation of years worth of work, and reviews, and on the ground projects has actually been. Not the *savings* they claim, but how much had already been spent on being at the point it was before austerity.

A friend and her partner had sold up their house and moved to the S.I as he is a civil engineer. Bought a new place, settled and a month later got told he had no job. It was already so close to being completed, I’m sure there are plenty of other people who have similar stories.

An ‘investor’ owning a big house on sprawling land that sits empty for the majority of the year may create some work for locals gardening and maintaining it, however it doesn’t bring investment to the country, doesn’t truly benefit it, unless they commit to the community and create something.

Simpson is like, Discourage property investment, grow our talent & skills, there is no future in selling bits of land to each other, capital gains tax is fine with me, my skills & networks are more valuable than my money. Stanford is like, get old rich billionaires over here & sell them a house.

This is real. And I have never seen the competence, morals, standards and communication strategy of any government collapse so fast.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

I propose we have a mental health day once a week, where no politics are shared, no mention of Thrump and his buddies. Instead we just look at the simple things, things that make us happy, feel good, hopeful. A kinda sabbatical once a week on socials. I bet it could be delightful and beneficial!

When I’ve eaten Almond Croissants 🥐 in France the almond paste is usually cooked but still moist. In NZ it feels like they don’t cook it through enough. Is it me?! Still tastes good, but consistency feels wrong 😑

Walked to my desk to find this on the desk next to me. It’s giving ‘Tell me you work in Aotearoa New Zealand without telling me’ vibes! 😂 I missed taking a pic of a kaimahi fully kitted out, wandering around asking how our day was going! Quite the surprise, nice to work in a fun place for a change!

After that plane literally flipped upside down after smashing into the runway and 100% of people survived, I hope every person who ever said “what’s even the point of seatbelts on a plane” feels like a real doof.

We’ve talked about the price of a coffee, but what about scones. Local cafe to where I’m working appear to charge over $6 for a cheese scone, $5.90 for a date scone. Over $6 seems steep, it wasn’t a generous size!

But I did love that Kiwi driver Liam Lawson arrived with Max in a car that looked just like Lightning McQueen!!!! #F175

Wow, it was a tough crowd at the F1 #F175 with all the booing! I get people may have reasons, but it’s rude and not ok. I’m not a fan of Christian Horner but that’s really tough, and Max may not be your fave driver but he’s a legit winner, dude can drive! And FIA keep them safe, c’mon! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Capitalism is great for business. Running a government like a business doesn’t work.

I wrote about Rocket Lab for the Economist in 2018 when it was all shiny and new. For multiple reasons, I haven't covered it since. Ollie Neas started highlighting the 'darker side' of RL back in 2020. And now, there's this www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

Just saw a trailer for the movie Tinā and I’m in tears,…from the trailer!! I need to see this film!

Wearing this dress today, this pic was taken in Alberobello, Puglia, and I’ve had sooo many compliments! Kiwis are said to not like wearing colour, but when you do they love it and even better they are happy to tell you that!!

Kikorangi can you help?

Any Kiwis here use Kiwi mobile? I need more data for less, trying to find reliable, affordable options!

Beautiful evening on our last night in Ōhope, so took a wander to the beach to see the moon on the water. Love Aotearoa New Zealand! Kikorangi

Thank you NZ Police for this strong statement. I appreciate the work you have been doing to with our Auckland Council team and Auckland Pride. Please if you feel comfortable to come forward and report evidence of assaults, please head to a police station or report through their 105 channels.

Thanks to the infected bee sting on the sole of my foot I only did the 5K for Round the Bays, instead of the 8.4K, but that was a wise choice. Kept bestie company as she’s recovering from surgery, but the other 8 did it, and Hubs did the Half Marathon in 1hr 27mins! ✅

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

The bliss of Ōtarawairere beach… including an active volcano in the distance! Aotearoa is naturally blessed!

Funny the ‘fight for freedom of speech’ is one way, you can’t use it on them without being called a liar. 🧐🤨

My strawberry patch did not fare well in Wellington’s heat and my absence during said heat, however I notice it hasn’t stopped the weeds from flourishing! 🙄

Quite fancied going to see Graham Norton while he’s in Wellington, and now I have a short term contract I though I could treat myself, then clicked the link to find tickets, to see they are $185, and as much as I am entertained by him I’m not sure I’m THAT entertained! 😁

Read the replies… 🥰😔

As I got ready to go out for dinner, I realised that I haven’t blow dried my hair in 6 days! Holiday mode is well and truly on! 😂 (to be clear, I have washed my hair, just not dried and styled it!)

Love my wee Magic Bullet, popped it in the bag to take on holiday and it’s been used daily for morning smoothies and evening cocktails!
