Great to get Short-eared Owl close up action, away from the elbowing crowds last week. More on justwildimages.blogspot.com @birdguides.bsky.social @lincsbirding.bsky.social #BirdingUK #WildlifePhotographer #RaptorPhotography #BritishWildlife #CanonPhotography #BirdsOfInstagram #BestBirdShots

Fantastic find by @weedonsworld.bsky.social on Sunday, this Black Redstart was less than a km away from another in Hampton, Peterborough. Are they aware of each other?! @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social More on justwildimages.blogspot.com #BirdingUK #WildlifePhotography

I relocated the drake Ferruginous duck this morning at Langtoft West End pits, Lincs. Not seen in the area since Jan 17th, but so many inaccessible pits for it to reside on @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @lincsbirding.bsky.social

Just a few from the weekend of the local Short-eared Owls. There must be at least twenty along one stretch of road. More on my blog justwildimages.blogspot.com #ShortEaredOwl #WildlifePhotography #NatureLovers #WildlifeLovers #FenlandWildlife #BirdPhotographer #NaturePhotography #BritishBirds

This Black Redstart was a superb find by @weedonsworld.bsky.social this afternoon at Hampton Vale, P’boro, Cambs. Still showing well at 14:50hrs in the vicinity of Tilgate Road @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social

3 Long-eared Owls again at Deeping Lakes NR, Lincs, early afternoon, but very well hidden @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @lincsbirding.bsky.social #rarebirdsuk #ukbirding

Drake Ring-necked duck, currently at Langtoft West End @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @lincsbirding.bsky.social #rarebirdsuk #ukbirding

The 2 Tundra Bean geese were still opposite Poplar Tree Farm, in the harvested beet field this morning near Thorney, Cambs, offering views that weren’t directly into the sun for a change @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social

The continued white-wing gull drought in the Peterborough area has eventually forced me to go the extra half hour, where this juv Glaucous Gull was still present this a.m on the shingle spit, adjacent the seal carcass at Old Hunstanton, Norfolk @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social #birds

These Ferruginous ducks don’t help the cause by showing down to a few metres…The 1w drake was still on Batchworth Lake, Rickmansworth, Herts early afternoon, along with the hybrid @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social #ukbirds #hertsbirds

A freezing but beautiful morning for @WeBS_UK along Theddlethorpe foreshore. Over 500 roosting Curlew at dawn were the perfect way to start the day, and 2 Shorelark and 15 Snow Bunting feeding on the beach were a real treat, too #ukbirding #lincsbirding

Very pleased to have connected with the American Yellow Warbler yesterday (31/12/24) with @corpustydickie.bsky.social having dipped on Saturday. Made us wait but well worth it #birds @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social

The Tanager painting from the earlier WIP.

1w Caspian Gull. Since ‘tipping’ at Tanholt has now virtually ceased, these birds have become increasingly difficult to find. This one was found by @jrmjones.bsky.social on the VEOLIA building, Dogsthorpe, Cambs yesterday #addBirder @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social

With scenes more akin to Norfolk, the outer extremities of the PBC (Peterborough Bird Club) recording area is currently hosting a 2,500 strong flock of Pink-footed geese & 9 Russian White-fronted geese in Parson Drove, Lincs, found by @jrmjones.bsky.social Unprecedented in our area.

1w drake Lesser Scaup, still on Barleycroft Lake, Ouse Fen, Cambs, early afternoon #rarebirdsuk #ukbirding @birdguides.bsky.social

Woodwalton Fen, Cambs has been productive for me of late, providing a PBC year tick in Bearded Tit as well as hosting a vocal Yellow-browed Warbler. Such views of Kingfisher are always very welcome #ukbirding

Finally managed to track down some Hawfinch of my own in the PBC recording area, with at least 5 in the grounds of Southwick Hall, Northants yesterday afternoon (viewed from churchyard) #ukbirding
