Humor. Compassion. That smoking will kill you.

can’t believe this still needs to be said, but: stop following altNPS. none of them work for the NPS and they exist to do Qanon numbers station crap and sell merch. it’s annoying for a lot of us that are actually NPS. thanks

I know a lot of folks like this account. But this is a wild, and unhelpful, exaggeration--it's a resistance version of sean spicer. It veers into #resistanceporn and trades accuracy for clout, like other "blue maga" grifters on here. Pls consider finding other sources of inspiration/news/motivation

Our unofficial crowdsourced estimate of yesterday’s protest turnout is rising to 4.2-7 million as we gather more data. At this point potentially the second-largest single day of protest in U.S. history! www.gelliottmorris.com/p/no-kings-d...

Thread.

Here’s a New York Times photo of the Chicago “No Kings” rally. NYT said the march that followed spanned at least 10 blocks.

Sickness descended on our house so no protesting. Feeling incredibly emotional. Sad and scared.

I have two that happened during my first trip to NYC. Nothing as exciting happened WHEN I ACTUALLY LIVED THERE. 1. Dinner in the world's tiniest basement restaurant. F. Murray Abraham was seated at the table next to us. He nodded at my open-gaped realization. 1/2

I am a procrastinator. I have big plans but I probably also have ADHD. I won't have a sign tomorrow but I will yell.

This is the second such posting I've seen, of places all out of sign-making supplies :)

I will believe it when I see it, BUT if so, this is a very important sign that backlash and political opinion still matter. And look for the courthouse arrests and check-in arrests to continue, if not accelerate dramatically.

This is the slap back to Stephen Miller’s “arrest everyone” madness. And an admission that Trump is under pressure from multiple industries that rely on migrant workers. This is huge and important. Keep amplifying the harm done by the Trump/Miller zealous, cruel overreach. Don’t bury this.

In the 90s, Clinton was impeached over the meaning of a word. Wtf are we doing here?

just a reminder that only water goes in your eyes, don’t wear contacts to a protest if you can help it, hot showers will hurt like hell if you have mace or gas residue on your skin. turn off face ID on your phone. pick a buddy & never leave their side. if detained, ask for a lawyer & then shut up.

And any existential crisis for higher education is an existential crisis for every local economy that is organized around higher education. And that’s most of them.

<thread> On the left: June 12, Judge Breyer writing that THE test for whether the US Marines/Guard violate Posse Comitatus will be whether they've engaged in "detaining" civilians. On the right: June 13: See for yourself. Note: The DoD has confirmed the detention of civilian to Reuters.

Can we stop with the unprecedented times today

Look, I know I'm supposed to celebrate this but... am I really to believe a company that is ending perpetual access sales is "for libraries?" It feels like empty words to be "for libraries" while also doing everything you can to extract wealth from us with no regard for preservation and ownership.

good grief, I think I need ice cream for dinner.

as always, @ legacy media

Now: Couple hundred people assembling in the plaza at Ida B Wells and Michigan Ave in Chicago to protest ICE raids and kidnappings. This will be a thread for that.

Planning to protest on Saturday? READ THIS.

Update: We've removed the paywall for all ye who enter.

Be aware: Speaker Johnson just spoke to press and said that Padilla's behavior rises to the level of a censure. Are you freaking joking me.

Our country's leadership did nothing when 20 six- and seven-year-olds were gunned down. Pretty sure they won't do anything now.

This is not the response dems should have. They need to call out the immorality and illegality of what this administration is doing, and start taking steps to stop it. I'm afraid it's nearly too late.

We passed whatever red line people were looking for a long time ago. This is where we are now. THIS IS WHERE WE ARE NOW.

It is imperative to recognize and call out this regime's bigoted identity politics. Their treatment of nonwhite electeds amounts to Taneyism. To them, these officials hold no authority they are bound to respect. Padilla, McIver, Baraka are merely the latest. They are doing this to POC on purpose.
