On June 12, a group of 43 Indigenous youth from nearby tribes began the first source-to-sea kayak of the Klamath River since the dams were removed last year. The kayakers will be paddling more than 300 miles. You can follow their journey here:

Related: we need a LOT more reliably safe spaces and people who know how to set them up and hold them down.

This thread nicely encapsulates one of the most impactful fronts in the spiraling battle for resilient/adaptable/economical housing, and by extension equitable society as a whole, over/under climate disaster capitalism.

Hello Again

We'll come back to this triptych sometime later bsky.app/profile/luck...

I first met @natehagens.bsky.social several years ago at a gathering focused on the polycrisis. We finally had the chance to dive deep on his excellent podcast, discussing why our definitions of security need an urgent update. www.thegreatsimplification.com/episode/183-...

Moving money en masse out of the usual suspects into social and regenerative enterprise, green bonds etc (w/ modest equitable returns) may be the most effective collective action on the table now; moreso than general strike. But who would? The moral calculus isn’t hard, just inconvenient.

Damn even Elon's AI kids get sent to conversion therapy

Land of (criminal) opportunity

I’ve been repeating this for months: the United States is not “in a Constitutional crisis” — it’s in a “post-constitutional” situation.

At of time of so much devastating news, here is a story with a happy ending. Indigenous youth are kayaking 300 miles down the Klamath River—from the headwaters to the sea—a feat not possible for 100 years until the largest dam removal in history. 🩵💧🩵 Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/u...

I like history but this is ridiculous

Greetings from this stunning endemic Mariposa lily (“Greene’s” I believe) - just found a pair doing their thing on a sparse rocky slope a little ways off my latest trail project! Wonders, they still don’t be ceasing 🥰

Along the Klamath River, where logging companies once cut ancient redwoods, vast tracts of land have been returned to the Yurok Tribe in an effort that tribal leaders say will enable the restoration of forests and the protection of a watershed that is vital for salmon www.latimes.com/environment/...

Showing how the humanities can solve drought: “Little by little, the ancient water-management system described in myths, documents, petroglyphs and stone carvings was aligned as a coherent whole.”

Who knows what nuts these babies sprouted from? Not native, but pulled from a 100+ yr old heirloom tree just up the road that seems well adapted and productive. Ensconced here in a makeshift grazer screen and shade cover to start 🌱

Sweet, these are the maps we made together, territories we foolishly vowed to own. Here, the place we wandered off the map, moved deep into a land without scars where every direction took us home but no place could give us shelter. -Deborah Miranda (Esselen/Chumash)

Polycrisis singularity inbound! What do you even do? Serious mental cross-fit exercise…

Quick heads up that tomorrow is a post full moon pre solstice friday the 13th so, keep it 💯👻🔮

It seems there’s a large backlog of ‘good crimes’ to be done, and so far very few taking on the mantle. Buck up and transgress!

I’ve said it before but it is embarrassing that so many intellectuals spent years in small factional battles over the propriety of calling this fascism.
