Endangered Lear's Macaws, the only ones in the UK! A beautiful member of the parrot family, sadly endangered mainly due to habitat loss & the illegal pet trade in its native Brazil. The Lear’s Macaw Centre here at Paradise Park Widlife Sanctuary is a World Parrot Trust project.

Following on from the great news this morning that a flamingo egg has been laid, Director Nick captured this great video clip clearly showing the egg on the nest. The female parent is called 'Penelope' and the male is 'Colin' named after the characters on ‘Bridgerton’.

The look of love! 😃 Look out for our pair of Tawny Frogmouths as our male was recently joined by this female photographed by Keeper Olly. One of the easiest species to photograph as they famously keep incredibly still to mimic the branches they sit on, hoping to ambush an unwary insect passing by.

This is ‘Shelley’ a buzzard. We gave her a home when she was found locally with a damaged right wing. Despite veterinary care, her wing did not fully recover but she can fly a short way. Buzzards are the most widespread birds of prey in the UK. Photo by Keeper Archie

The male and female Visayan Hornbills look quite different - the female has mainly black plumage and blue skin around her eye while the male has a creamy-white head and neck, and white upper chest. Keep an eye out for them when you visit. Photograph by Director Alison

Wonderful photo of a Lilac-breasted Roller by Keeper Leanne. During courtship the rollers fly up, then tip forward with wings closed, then flap to gain speed towards the ground. While at their highest speed the birds will roll to left and right a few times, hence their name.
