A joyous, if slightly eerie, 100th Birthday of Edward Gorey, to all who celebrate. Fond memories of getting to see Dracula with Gorey's stage sets, played as a farce. (bats wallpaper! stormy dark clouds above the castle on the main curtain, complete with red LED twinkly bat eyes as they flew!)

Was talking with a Canadian visitor in a hotel where I was staying in New York. I apologized-a lot-for what is happening. He looked at me, sadly. I said, "Well, this just shows how upside down everything is. An American saying 'sorry' to a Canadian..." We laughed and shook hands in friendship.
