Oh look, Europe finally decided to up their defense spending. All these years of Trump hammering them about hitting their NATO quotas finally working. That meeting with zelenskyy is already having positive results

A likely condition for Russia to agree to peace is for Zelensky to step down. Trump pushed for him to hold elections but that would probably take too long. Todays meeting both puts pressure on Europe to give more support and puts pressure on Ukraine to seek new leadership to change the relationship

Zelensky's mistake was allowing Ukraine to become a partisan issue. Republicans feel more aligned with Russia ideologically. When just about every leftist social media account has a pride flag next to a Ukrainian flag , this was predictable.
